St. Johanniskirche Boek
"St. Johannis Church is a listed church building in Boek, a district of the municipality of Rechlin in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It belongs to the parish of Rechlin in the Neustrelitz provostry, Mecklenburg church district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany. A church was mentioned in Boek as early as the 13th century. Heavily damaged after the Thirty Years' War, a new sacred building is said to have been erected to the west of the manor house in 1758. The parton was chamberlain Christoph von Raven. The remains of the second wooden church were demolished after the village fire of 1837. The new church site was consecrated in 1841 and the new cemetery site in 1845. The former, leveled church square was partly used by the estate as a path and as vegetable land. With the acquisition of the estate in 1842, the very active Dobbertin monastery governor Carl Johann von Le Fort also took over the patronage of the Boek church. The design for the new church building was provided in 1844 by Schinkel's pupil and Schwerin master builder and architect Carl Anton Hermes. The construction of the church was carried out by the building contractor Hennemann and the church patron was in charge of supervision. The Grand Duke's approval was granted with the remark that the massive construction of the church in Boek intended by you, according to the drawing submitted to us, which was then returned to us, would please us. The foundation stone of today's third church was laid on August 20, 1844. As patron, Le Fort paid almost 5,ooo marks of the submitted building bills alone and also donated various small works of art."
St. Mary's Church Ribnitz
📍 Ribnitz-Damgarten
The town church of St. Marien with its massive tower is visible from afar and dominates the townscape. It is a brick building from the 13th century. . It was immediately rebuilt and furnished in the Baroque style (altar and pulpit). At the beginning of the 1980s, the interior of the church underwent further changes: a winter church was installed and the half-timbering in the nave was exposed. The tower (49 meters high, 214 steps) is accessible and the viewing platform offers a beautiful view over the town of Ribnitz and its surroundings. If visibility is good, the towers of Rostock can be seen with the naked eye. Organ concerts and exhibitions are held regularly during the summer months. Construction of the three-aisled hall church began during the city's founding period. Remains of the late Romanesque architectural decoration of the first church are preserved in the form of a round arch frieze on the west side of the nave and in the paired lancet windows. Later conversions and extensions in various architectural styles characterize the image of the church. The great town fire of 1759 destroyed the vaults and medieval interior as well as the tower, which was 100 meters high at the time. Under the direction of the Ludwigslust court architect Johann Joachim Busch, the roof and interior of the church were redesigned in the Baroque style. The central nave was given a wooden semi-circular barrel vault on brick latticework supports, while the side aisles were given flat wooden roofing. The tower lantern was not added until 1841/43 according to designs by Georg Adolph Demmler. After 1980, the interior was remodeled again with the addition of a winter church and parish rooms. In 1994, the organ from the workshop of the Dresden organ builder Jehmlich was inaugurated. Today, in addition to church services and community events, concerts, exhibitions and guided tours take place regularly. The tower (49 meters high, 214 steps) is accessible and the viewing platform offers a beautiful view over the town of Ribnitz and its surroundings. On a clear day, the towers of Rostock can be seen with the naked eye.
St. Mary's Church Wesenberg
📍 Wesenberg
Evangelical Lutheran parish of Wesenberg Construction of today's Marienkirche probably began at the end of the 13th century. The choir and the lower tower storeys are the oldest parts of the church and are made of fieldstone masonry with some use of bricks, and a town register note from 1337 states that the church is "complete". The nave was built in the second half of the 14th century. The vaulting of the choir took place in the second half of the 15th century and the south porch was built at the end of the 15th century. At the beginning of the 16th century, the window openings were changed and a vaulted chapel room was built in the second northern choir bay in honor of the Holy Spirit. The Röder organ is the oldest organ in Berlin.
St. Catherine's Church Trent
St. Catherine's Church in Trent is a 14th century church building and is also known as a "wayside church" due to its location. Trent, first mentioned in 1311, lies at a fork in one of the three old Rügen country roads and the church is a brick Gothic building. The oldest part of today's church is the choir, which dates from around 1400, while the nave was built at the end of the 15th century as an imposing three-aisled hall, probably by the same builders who also worked on St. Marien Stralsund and St. Jakob Gingst. Apart from the pulpit in the late Renaissance style, the uniform Baroque furnishings (altar, baptismal font, confessional), which were created in 1752-1754 by the Stralsund sculptor Michael Müller, predominate. Gravestones and epitaphs refer to the close relationship with the von Platen patronage family. Church services are held here fortnightly at 9.00 am. A special tradition are the concerts during the concert summer in July and August, usually on Sundays and/or Wednesdays. Visits are possible from May to October according to the notice board or by prior arrangement and guided tours of the church after the service.

Route of North German Romanticism: Wolgast harbor - two painters - one motif The town harbor of Wolgast conveys a maritime flair. Such motifs were of particular interest to Romantics and were often depicted in paintings. As Runge's hometown, it is not surprising that he chose the harbor as the location for one of his drawings. The painting "Landscape on the Peene" was created in 1806. Here, a ship with a Swedish flag is clearly depicted. Caspar David Friedrich also took the opportunity to draw at Wolgast harbor during his honeymoon in 1818. He often visited the town of Wolgast during his stays at home, as sketches of the remains of Wolgast Castle at the time show.

After around 100 years, the house was given a much-needed facelift and is now a real gem in the town. A coat of arms embellishes the front of the house. Architectural style/construction: New Renaissance The market square is not only home to the town hall, but also the oldest house in Gnoien: the former Gasthaus zur Börse. Ludwigslust town church
📍 Ludwigslust
The "temple-like" town church in Ludwigslust is absolutely unusual by Mecklenburg standards. Not only the colossal altarpiece by two Baroque artists and the magnificent gallery for high nobility are well worth seeing. The church can be visited. The town church was built in 1770 as the court church for Ludwigslust Palace and was designed by court architect Johann Joachim Busch. Together with the palace square and the palace, it forms the largest baroque ensemble in Mecklenburg. In addition to the north-south orientation of the building, the Ludwigslust town church has numerous other special features. Compared to the huge altarpiece "Annunciation of the Shepherds" by the two court painters Dietrich Findorf and Johann Heinrich Suhrland, the bright interior with its design is almost plain. With a painted area of around 350 m², it is considered the largest altarpiece in Europe. The princely box is just as magnificent. Most of the decorations, ceiling rosettes and ornaments come from the Ludwigslust carton factory - in other words, they are made from the famous Ludwigslust papier-mâché. In the central aisle is the sarcophagus of Duke Friedrich, known as the Pious, who commissioned the church in Ludwigslust. The stone sarcophagus was made from a boulder weighing several tons at the grinding mill in Schwerin. Since the late 19th century, there has also been a frieze organ in Ludwigslust. The town church is Protestant and services are held regularly. The church is open to visitors from Tuesdays to Sundays and information material on the history of the church is available on site. Guided tours of the church are available on request.
City wall
📍 Stralsund
Large parts of the 700-year-old town wall are still preserved and have been continuously restored over the last few decades. Compared to other medieval towns, Stralsund still has large sections of the town wall. In the 13th century, the fortifications still consisted of piles. However, it was quickly replaced by a stone wall with towers and battlements in the 14th century. The section of the town wall between the former Hospitaler Tor gate and the Kütertor gate, which still exists today, was restored in the 1960s. The battlement walkways and the Wiekhäuser are also still preserved here. Two of the former ten gates still exist - the Kniepertor, mentioned in a document as early as 1293 and now used as an original dwelling, and the aforementioned Kütertor. The latter was built in 1446 and is sparsely structured with blinds on both sides. A tent roof with a lantern and steep helmet forms the end.
