Visitor information center of the Peene Valley River Landscape Nature Park

The visitor information center of the Peene Valley River Landscape Nature Park is located on the south bank of the Peene, in the center of the picturesque village of Stolpe. The modern exhibition provides visitors with a wealth of information about the various habitats shaped by the Peene and the animal and plant species that live here. The modern information center as well as the nature park administration are located in a thatched-roof house that blends into the village landscape not far from the village church. From the white-tailed eagle to the reed owl (moth butterfly), from the orchid to the sand strawflower - here you will find a wealth of information about the living world of this attractive nature park. The moor and the large-scale renaturation measures in the region naturally play a special role. During a virtual boat trip, you can learn a lot about the history, landscape and people of the region. You can get an overview of the nature park and plan your next excursion on foot, by bike or even by solar-powered boat. Eldena Post Mill

The historic post mill in Eldena invites you to experience centuries-old milling traditions up close. Explore the lovingly restored mill and learn more about the milling trade and the mill’s eventful history. The post mill in Eldena—one of the oldest windmills along the Baltic Sea coast—was first mentioned in 1533 and stands as an impressive testament to the milling history of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. After a long period of use lasting into the 1930s, the mill collapsed in 1972 due to its age. However, thanks to the tireless work of the Eldenaer Mühle e.V. support association, it was faithfully restored to its original condition. Today, the mill is a living monument to the old milling tradition. Visitors can look forward to an exciting journey into the past: they can experience the impressive mechanics and historical construction of the mill up close and learn how the milling trade was practiced back then. Regular guided tours offer interesting insights into how the mill works, and the highlight for many guests is the opportunity to try their hand at grinding grain. In addition to its technical features, the mill offers an idyllic setting in the immediate vicinity of the fishing village of Wieck and the Eldena monastery ruins, making it a popular destination for culture lovers and inviting visitors to linger thanks to the nearby restaurants along the Ryck. The mill association also organizes events and activity days to keep knowledge of this special cultural heritage alive. A visit to the Eldena post mill is an experience for the whole family that uniquely combines history, craftsmanship, and nature.

The region's excellent climate, with plenty of sunshine and warmth during the day and cool nights thanks to the Baltic Sea climate, guarantees that the exquisite fruit varieties develop a strong and unique aroma. The 2026 Peenetal Cross-Country Race is a nature-oriented race with a village festival atmosphere held in Lüssow (Gützkow) in the heart of the Peenetal valley. Routes through forests and meadows offer a children’s race of approximately 900 meters, as well as cross-country races of approximately 5.2 km and 11.3 km through the diverse river landscape.
