Courses & tours are suitable for beginners and advanced paddlers and take place in small groups. Learn to love kayaking! In nature, on the water, in a kayak. "Lovers of Lakes" is a small family business that has set itself the goal of enabling you to experience the nature of Mecklenburg and the joy of paddling through customized courses and nature-oriented kayak tours in small groups. We offer you high-quality equipment, elegant and light kayaks as well as competent and experienced guides - whether in courses or on tours. In "Lovers of Lakes" courses, you will learn paddling techniques (forward and backward strokes, pulling strokes, steering strokes, supports, etc.) and a little theory, so that you are equipped for rivers and lakes. With the right technique and great equipment, you will learn to love kayaking, the change of perspective from land to water and this unique way of experiencing nature (even more). The "Lovers of Lakes" kayak tours last 3 - 5 days. Here, too, some theory is taught and, if desired, individual work can be done on paddling technique along the way. Overnight stays are usually at camping or water hiking rest areas.

"Uns lütt Museum" Dargun

The name is deceptive, because the region's largest museum of everyday history is located in 17 rooms, on 2000m² of exhibition space and in the outdoor area - a museum you can touch and try out. A museum of a special kind is located in the former guest house of the monastery and castle complex in Dargun. It is a comprehensive collection of the ordinary and the extraordinary. The exhibits once belonged to the house, farm and garden, were needed in old crafts or were used by our ancestors in agriculture or forestry. The medicine room contains utensils used by farmers, dentists and vets. The stationmaster's "office", as it can be seen, was saved from the station at the end of Dargun's railroad history. The exhibition on flight and expulsion at the end of the Second World War with original accounts of those affected is remarkable; it also attracted a great deal of attention on northern television. Visitors to the museum will find further agricultural equipment and machines in the spacious outdoor area and on the threshing floor. Almost all of them are in working order - they are there to be touched and tried out. Go for it! Swing the blacksmith's hammer yourself, hammer cheese into the cobbler's shoes or work wood on an old draw bench in the wheelwright's workshop. And don't miss the lovingly laid out farm garden. "Uns lütt Museum", run by an association on a voluntary basis, has grown into a prestigious museum. Its dedicated members have lovingly designed the exhibition rooms, maintain the historical machines and tools and organize special exhibitions and activity days. 3 Queens Palace - Exhibition

The 3 Queens Palace - in the former cavalier house of Mirower Castle - is now a modern cultural and adventure center in which the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and its three famous princesses, who became important European queens, come to life. The interactive experience exhibition, changing special exhibitions by regional artists, themed guided tours through the historical ensemble, the Palais Café with its exquisite selection of cakes and incomparable view of Lake Mirower as well as events and royal treasure hunts in summer allow all visitors to immerse themselves in times gone by. The 3 Queens' Palais in the old Kavalierhaus on Mirow Castle Island offers an interactive exhibition for the whole family. Accompanied by numerous detailed explanations in writing, pictures and sound - understandable even for the youngest - it guides visitors through the history of the region and the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Starting with the first settlements by the Slavs, through the emergence and flourishing of the noble houses and first towns in the region, to the eventful stories of the three princesses from the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who became important European queens - Sophie Charlotte (Queen of Great Britain and Ireland), Louise (Queen of Prussia) and Friederike (Queen of Hanover). Interactive stations such as the adventure cinema, the optical queen profile comparison, the talking ancestral gallery or the photo island for a family picture à là "Prince and Princess with a click" round off the journey into the history of the Mecklenburg Lake District, as do the numerous audio-visual impressions of its natural riches and beauties. Changing special exhibitions with works by regional artists and on Mecklenburg's history complement the interactive experience exhibition in the 3 Königinnen Palais. They offer insights into the vibrant culture of the Mecklenburg Lake District. The Palais Café with its large sun terrace and magnificent view over Lake Mirower invites you to linger and enjoy. Tempting cakes, delicious pastries and hearty, freshly prepared soups are a popular refreshment after a hike across the castle island and a good reason for an extended break. But perhaps start the day with a delicious breakfast? A selection of different breakfast variations is also available.

AGRONEUM Alt Schwerin

The village of Alt Schwerin is nestled in the Mecklenburg Lake District and the Nossentiner-Schwinzer Heide Nature Park. As early as 1963, the decision was made to bring the history of Mecklenburg's estates and agriculture to life in an exemplary way in the midst of the historically grown substance. And so the AGRONEUM Alt Schwerin, an open-air museum of a special kind, can now look back on more than 60 years of history. You can expect an extensive collection of technology and everyday objects in numerous exhibition buildings and insights into the life of farm workers from 1800 to the 1960s. The large open-air site with village smithy, wheelwright's workshop, Dutch windmill, sawmill and ropery is also the central venue for the almost monthly museum festivals, where agricultural history is presented in a lively way. In addition, there are demonstrations, hands-on activities, blacksmithing and vacation workshops that build a bridge between then and now and impart knowledge in a vivid way. Our steam locomobile (built in 1915) from the Heucke company welcomes you in the glass entrance building. Here you will also find a well-stocked farm store with an extensive range of seasonal and regional products, beautiful and useful items.
