Christuskirche was built during the period when Torgelow was developing into an iron foundry town. The neo-Gothic brick building was erected between 1882 and 1884 to replace the wooden church that had been burned down during the Thirty Years’ War; a sandstone section of a baptismal font (1624) still serves as a reminder of that church.
