Christ Church, Torgelow
Christuskirche was built during the period when Torgelow was developing into an iron foundry town.
The neo-Gothic brick building was erected between 1882 and 1884 to replace the wooden church that had been burned down during the Thirty Years’ War; a sandstone section of a baptismal font (1624) still serves as a reminder of that church.

The Christuskirche Torgelow is one of the most striking religious buildings in western Vorpommern, not far from the island of Usedom. The Neo-Gothic brick building was constructed between 1882 and 1884—at a time when Torgelow was developing into a major center for iron casting. The church was built on the site of an older wooden church that had been burned down during the Thirty Years’ War.
Historical Heritage: Baptismal Font from 1624
A stone remnant of the original church has survived the centuries: A sandstone fragment of a baptismal font from 1624 still serves as a reminder of the earlier building. An early medieval settlement from the 12th/13th century can be visited in the "Castrum Turglowe". Two hotels, a guesthouse, a youth hostel and numerous vacation apartments invite you to stay for longer. There is also a water hiking rest area and a caravan parking area.
