Aristocratic Fräuleinstift

Aristocratic Fräuleinstift

📍 Barth

The baroque building complex of the Adligen Fräuleinstift was built between 1733 and 1741 and was founded by the Swedish Queen Ulrike Eleonore. The Adlige Fräuleinstift was founded in 1733 under the self-designation "Bahrtisches Closter"; another contemporary designation is "Adliges Jungfrauenkloster". However, it was not a convent, but a foundation for the care of unmarried daughters, mainly from aristocratic families in the region. Similar institutions existed in Bergen auf Rügen, Stralsund (former St. Annen and Brigitten Convent), Ribnitz (former Poor Clares Convent, now the Amber Museum) and numerous other places. They emerged from monasteries that were dissolved during the Reformation. In many cases, the nuns living here came from families who destined their unmarried daughters for the clergy, as it was not possible for them to remain in the family for economic reasons. With the introduction of the Reformation and the dissolution of the monasteries, this option was no longer available. One solution was to convert the monasteries into secular abbeys. While entry into the monasteries was associated with the taking of vows as a lifelong decision, the nuns did not take any vows. They could leave the convent without special permission in the event of marriage or for other personal reasons. Although life in the convent was subject to strict rules, it was possible to leave the grounds during the day, there were vacations and the possibility of being absent for a maximum of three months each year upon request. A prioress monitored compliance with the monastery rules; the first head of the monastery was Philipina Luise von Wackenitz with the rank of abbess. There was no predecessor institution in Barth, as no monasteries were founded in the town according to the regulations of 1255 (town foundation and early town history of Barth). The path to the foundation of the noble Barth monastery was cleared in 1726 after the Swedish King Frederick, with the direct involvement of Queen Ulrika Eleonora, donated the land and the existing remains of Barth Castle to the knighthood and granted permission to fell timber in the royal forest on the Darß. The monastery was thus located on the site that had been the location of the town quarters of the Princes of Rügen and later the Dukes of Pomerania (Jaromar II, Barnim XIII) since around 1255. The first conventuals moved into the buildings on August 3, 1733. Each convent lady, unmarried and therefore unprovided for women, was provided with an apartment with four rooms, adjoining rooms and a garden plot. There were fixed salaries to ensure their upkeep. As a rule, the right to later entry into the convent was purchased at birth, but by no means all those entitled to it ever made use of it. After the Second World War, the nuns found themselves in a difficult situation. Refugees had to be accommodated in the buildings and with the land reform they lost the estates from which the convent had acquired part of its income. The nuns had to temporarily leave their home, but were soon able to return. In May 1948, the convent was dissolved and passed to the church. In 1974, the buildings were handed over to the town, in 1978 the last nun, Anna-Louise von Stumpfeld, left the premises, the last prioress, Katharina von Hagenow (1882-1952) was buried in the Barth cemetery; the Barth grammar school (Uhlenflucht 5) is named after her. The building complex of the monastery is a three-winged complex made of plastered bricks. The elongated main building consists of a raised central section with a broad central risalit with a triangular gable and bell tower. Ten-axis building sections with high mansard roofs adjoin on both sides. There are also two nine-axis wings enclosing the courtyard on three sides. The entire building complex is surrounded by an unrendered brick wall with a round-arched gateway with a crowned Swedish royal coat of arms and the reconstructed gatekeeper's house next to it. From 1985 to 1994, some parts of the building housed a kindergarten. Since 2001, age-appropriate apartments and rooms for exhibitions and cultural events have been set up in the complex, which has been renovated in accordance with the preservation order. The two-winged baroque complex is the only Swedish foundation on German soil.

Your cab for Zingst, Barth and the surrounding area. You know the destination. We know the way. A family business on the road to success Horst Oelke, born in 1943, took the plunge into self-employment on May 1, 1990 and founded his own cab company in Zingst together with several other new cab entrepreneurs. His beginnings were modest: A black and brown Lada 1500 and a portable telephone, the size of a small suitcase, formed the basis. Although he was originally a blacksmith, Horst proved to be a natural driver. With his experience at Kraftverkehr Ribnitz-Damgarten and his work as a bus and car driver at the former VEG Zingst, he was very familiar with the roads and paths in the region. He received active support from his wife Ulla, who took care of the bookkeeping with great skill and of course - the bureaucratic tasks would have simply overwhelmed the new entrepreneur. His children Andrea and Jan also obtained their passenger transport licenses and gradually joined the family business. Over the years, the fleet changed, but Horst Oelke's calm, reliable manner built up a stable network of hotels, guesthouses, doctors and locals, creating the foundations for a solid, family-run business. We are your cab for Zingst, Barth and the surrounding area. Up high or down low - no distance is too far for us. AroniaGut Marquardt

AroniaGut Marquardt

📍 Trinwillershagen

At the certified organic AroniaGut Marquardt, we grow 4 hectares of fruit and berries and gently process them into delicious products that can help you eat healthily. The right harvest time is particularly important to us and you can taste it! In 2019, we took over the land of the current AroniaGut after previous soil analyses, planted 12,800 certified organic chokeberry plants, old apple varieties in orchards and peach trees in the greenhouse. We do not use artificial irrigation, chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The first harvest of aronia berries in 2020 was only suitable for a fruit brandy due to the long drought. This led to the more or less unplanned creation of the aronia brandy, which, as a limited edition with a maximum of 99 bottles every two years, creates a unique taste experience after being stored in acacia barrels. In the years that followed, we expanded our range with tasty aronia direct juice, aronia-apple-gingko juice, our multi-farm juice, chutneys, fruit spreads, dried fruit, farm honey, pickled fruit, rum pot and much more. And of course we also have fresh fruit. Every Friday from 2 to 6 pm we are there for you in our farm store. Experience, taste and enjoy. We've put together Friday visitor packages (up to 10 people) for you on our website: mini: four direct chokeberry juices in a blind tasting, whoever finds ours gets a 0.25 l bottle for free; standard: blind tasting and guided tour of the farm; premium: complete tasting of all products, coffee and cake, guided tour of the farm; Corporate events and cooking courses (4-8 people) on request. And if Trinwillershagen is just too far away, give me a call, write to me on insta (bauergunni) or visit our website. For our village, visitors by car, by bike and on foot, our vending machine will be available at our farm from mid-2026 to "refuel" and take a break.

In our workshop, you can browse through and purchase my paintings directly and obtain information about current exhibitions and courses on offer. The courses include classical and experimental components to give you the opportunity to start and develop your own individual artistic work. Paintings and courses on the subject of landscape and people in various techniques Tel. 038220 80619 Mainly on the move in the landscape, you can view the graphic or painterly results of my work in the workshop. The courses consist of three sessions of 3 hours each and include the classical way into and through your own picture. A fourth option includes experimental approaches. Based on perception training - through the eyes in, from the fingertips out - and systematic study of nature, the first 3-hour unit is dedicated to the basics of drawing and graphics: Composition, image structure, perspective, graphic means. This can be followed by two sensory units on the basics of color mixing and its application; the further development of the composition study into a color study. The counterpart "Experimental" expands - if desired - the craft and technical approach with a playful element. In addition to the aforementioned "packages", training units with increasing levels of difficulty can be arranged. From summer 2016, classic printing techniques can be carried out in the printing workshop of the Prerow artist Theodor Schultze-Jasmer (1888-1975), which has moved to the Ahrenshooper Mühle.

B14 Gerhard Marcks Künstlerhaus

B14 Gerhard Marcks Künstlerhaus

📍 Ahrenshoop

Büdnerei B14 is the former home of the famous German sculptor, draughtsman and graphic artist Gerhard Marcks. The more than 200-year-old listed building was extensively restored between 2017 and 2019 and opened as an artists' residence. In this context, close cooperation is being sought with Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. Since August 17, 2019, a cast of the world-famous bronze sculpture "The Caller" by Gerhard Marcks has stood in the garden of the "B14 Gerhard Marcks Künstlerhaus" in the Niehagen district. The artwork gained worldwide fame due to its location in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, where another cast of the sculpture has stood since 1989. The artwork was erected here in memory of Ronald Reagan's visit in 1987, when the American president called out to the world: "Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" The cast of the sculpture now on display in Ahrenshoop was originally intended to find its way to America and be dedicated to the American people, who helped the Germans achieve freedom, unity and peace. The artwork did not make this journey. In a conversation with art collector and dealer Bernd Schultz, whose Schultz-von Schacky family foundation owns the statue, Torsten Frühauf was able to suggest the Baltic seaside resort of Ahrenshoop as a location for the sculpture. The location in the garden of the former artist's studio, where Gerhard Marcks once lived and worked in Ahrenshoop, was convincing, so that the work of art now went on permanent loan to Ahrenshoop. You can find the current opening hours at marcks-kuenstlerhaus.de .
