The Prora Documentation Center provides information about the history of Prora and shows "MACHTUrlaub", the only permanent exhibition in Germany on the working and social history of the "Third Reich". The Prora Documentation Center is located in the historical complex in Prora, which was planned as the "KdF-Seebad Rügen". Prora is part of the Baltic seaside resort of Binz and is located on the Prorer Wiek, the most beautiful bay on the island of Rügen. The approximately 4.7 km-long complex was built here between 1936 and 1939 on behalf of the "NS-Gemeinschaft Kraft durch Freude" ("Strength through Joy") and was almost completed in its shell. The facility has been a listed building since 1992. Alongside the "Nazi Party Rally Grounds" in Nuremberg, it is the largest closed architectural legacy of the National Socialist era. 20,000 people were supposed to spend their vacations here at the same time. The "KdF-Bad der Zwanzigtausend" is not only an interesting example of the use of modernist architecture under National Socialism, but also an important socio-historical testimony to the efforts of the Nazi regime to pacify the workers, whose parties and organizations had been smashed in 1933, and to win them over to the war, living space and racial policies. Prora was intended to be both an expression of the proclaimed Nazi "national community" and a constructive element that helped to create it, thus acting as a propaganda tool to stabilize the system. After the start of the war, police battalions were trained in Prora for a time, some of which were then deployed behind the front lines in drastic criminal operations. During the GDR era, Prora became an NVA barracks and thus also a restricted military zone, and in the 1980s it was also the largest site for construction soldiers. Construction soldiers performed unarmed military service and were subjected to hard labor and harassment. The Bundeswehr initially took over Prora after reunification, but left after just two years. After long disputes about the appropriate use of the historic site, a modern vacation home is now being built in Prora. The Prora Documentation Center presents the permanent exhibition "MACHTUrlaub" with picture and text panels, audio and video stations and shows a film on the history of the complex in a continuous loop. Changing special exhibitions and events explore the themes in greater depth, and guided tours on foot and by bike are offered in the exhibition and on the grounds of the historic complex. Projects, workshops, seminars and other formats are part of the educational program.

The 70-kilometer “Rügen Coastal Trail” promises beautiful scenic experiences. The trail also takes you to the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt Viewpoint. A 14th-century Gothic gabled house, featuring a preserved house tree and an original pulley wheel in the attic. The 14th-century gabled house was restored through a private initiative between 1974 and 1976 and returned to its original condition. Inside, the house tree—which serves as a load-bearing element—and the original hoist wheel in the attic have been preserved, among other features. In 1687, a Baroque gallery was added to the entrance hall. As with all gabled houses of this type, the entrance hall opens onto the courtyard through a large window known as a “Lucht.” The wide stepped gable deserves special attention. Today, the building is occupied by the person who initiated the extensive renovation.

Caspar David Friedrich was so fascinated by the tomb that he captured it in drawings and sketches. During the excavation conducted by Prof. Ewald Schuldt in 1970, various artifacts were discovered, particularly in front of and inside the entrance to the burial chamber. These include, among other things, pottery shards, arrowheads, amber beads, axes, and other flint tools. Another distinctive feature of the tomb is the small bowls attached to the toppled guardian stone and one of the boundary stones, which still raise many questions today. The "Blocksberg" megalithic tomb is located right along the road near Posewald. On the road from Lonvitz to Zirkow, north of the village of Posewald, lies the "Blocksberg" megalithic tomb, a so-called large dolmen with a vestibule. Originally, the tomb had three capstones, of which only one remains in its nearly original position—sunken into the chamber. The other two stones lie in the immediate vicinity: one at the edge of the mound, the other still buried in the ground. Among the Neolithic graves is a well-known megalithic tomb (Site 2 in the Pastitz Forest) located along the railroad line from Bergen to Putbus. Despite traces of stone-cutting teams, the dolmen and its surrounding stones are still well-preserved here. Originally, the tomb—a large dolmen with a vestibule dating from around 3000 B.C.—had a burial chamber with four capstones, two of which are missing and one of which has slipped into the chamber. At the presumed megalithic tomb, Site 51, in the Pastitz Forest, the surrounding stones have also largely been preserved. However, the burial chamber is not yet visible above ground in the flat, elongated mound. It is therefore questionable whether this structure is in fact a megalithic tomb. Since 2017, a nursery that has been restored according to historical models has been combined with a community store of regional producers and an adjacent café in the manor house ambience to create a special excursion destination in the region. The "Gärtnerei am Gutshaus Parow" is a three-winged complex dating back to 1913, which was managed until 1974. In 2017, it was painstakingly restored to its original form by the municipality of Kramerhof in collaboration with the Storchennest youth center. Embedded in the listed manor house ensemble, you will discover a nursery with a greenhouse and a 4,000 m² kitchen garden and show garden based on a historical model to preserve and revive long-forgotten old fruit and vegetable varieties, especially from the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region, and to introduce them to visitors. At the Gärtnerei am Gutshaus, the long tradition of cultivating small gardens and home gardens in our region is seen as part of our horticultural heritage. The appreciation of horticultural products and the wealth of species and varieties in our region is made visible here. The Vorpommernshop was opened in 2017. In addition to fresh fruit and vegetables from the nursery, it offers over 300 different regional products from the Vorpommern-Rügen district. There is an adjacent café with an outdoor terrace that invites you to linger in a natural atmosphere.
