Castle rampart at Cape Arkona

The "Jaromarsburg" is located at Cape Arkona, the northernmost point of the island of Rügen, and is reminiscent of the Slavic era. The long-known "Jaromarsburg" on the northern tip of the island of Rügen was the sacred place of worship of the Ranen, a West Slavic people. It was built as a temple sanctuary in honor of Svantevit, the main god of the Slavs on Rügen. From the 9th century until the fall of the castle in 1168, this last pagan bastion was the political and religious center of power on the island. The castle rampart, which is still 12 m high today, with its moat and the interior of the castle, has been exposed to the constantly advancing coastal erosion for decades, which is why numerous sondages, prospections and excavations have taken place since 1868. Burgwall ferry

The passenger ferry connects the mainland with Burgwallinsel - a former Slavic settlement. Originally, the farmers of Teterow grazed their cattle on Burgwallinsel, but at some point they created a small ferry link between the island and the mainland. Over time, the island became a popular excursion destination. A restaurant was built on the island and a passenger ferry was put into operation. This is still the case today. The Burgwall ferry runs to Burgwallinsel from Easter to September. Current information: End of season from September 15, 2025

Castle Wall Island

The former Slavic settlement is now a local recreation area. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. A gem in the immediate vicinity of Teterow is the Burgwallinsel in Lake Teterow. Until the early Middle Ages, the island was connected to the mainland by a 750-metre-long wooden bridge - an architecturally perfect structure without a single nail. Today, the former Slavic settlement can be reached by ferry or the launch "Regulus" and offers those seeking peace and relaxation. If you want to be physically active, you can hire water scooters and rowing boats on the island, swim at the natural beach (with a small sunbathing area, unguarded) or explore the surrounding area on the island hiking trail. Younger guests can look forward to a playground. The WENDENKRUG invites you to stop for refreshments. Delicacies from the region are served in the restaurant or on the lakeside terrace, and those who wish can also rest their weary heads here. In summer 2010, the island was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guests arriving by car can use the Burgwallinsel parking lot and walk from there to the ferry. Alternatively, the parking lot at the bathing establishment can be used. From here, you can reach Burgwallinsel via the NaturBad using the "Regulus" launch. Buskam - A boulder in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Göhren

This massive boulder lies about 200 meters from Göhren Beach. The part of the rock protruding from the water has a circumference of about 40 meters. The legendary “Buhskam” or “Buskamen” near Göhren, weighing an enormous approximately 1,600 metric tons, is the largest boulder discovered to date in all of northern Germany. Depending on the water level, this giant boulder protrudes approximately 1.50 m from the water, which is about 7 m deep. The surface of the hammer granite is covered with countless small cups or pits, the purpose of which—as well as their age—remains unclear to this day. There is a bus parking lot next to the Stralsund Theater with space for two to three buses. Two to three buses can park on the edge of the old town island next to the east side of the theater. The Old Market, Stralsund Town Hall and the harbor are just a five-minute walk away. From here it is about a 20-minute walk to the lido. The bus stop "Olof-Palme-Platz" for bus lines 1 and 4 is located on the west side of the theater, in the direction of Kniepertor. A building from 1967 by the Binz architect Ulrich Müther. Ulrich Müther (* July 21, 1934 in Binz; † August 21, 2007 Binz) was a German civil engineer and building contractor. He designed and built more than 50 shell structures, technically known as double-curved concrete shell structures, and thus became an exponent of architectural modernism. One of these shells is a measuring and test structure and was originally intended to be used as a test shell for the multi-purpose hall in Rostock Lütten Klein.

Venue of the independent theater group Compagnie de Comédie am Stadthafen Compagnie de comédie Rostock was founded at the beginning of 1991 as the first independent theater in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by Joachim Lemke, Holger Schulze, Georg Haufler, Armin Roder, Friedemann Wikarski, Lutz Wesolek, Martina Witte, Rita Barg and Monika Boysen. The opening took place on July 12, 1991 with the premiere of Aristophanes' "Eirene - Peace". Martina Witte has directed the theater since 1993. The theater has its home at Bühne 602 in Rostock's city harbor and puts on around 200 performances a year. In the summer months from June to August, the Rostock monastery Zum Heiligen Kreuz is also used for open-air events.
