Billroth oak in Bergen auf Rügen
● Bergen auf Rügen
The Billroth Oak is a majestic oak tree in the heart of Bergen. A majestic oak. It was planted in honor of the famous surgeon Theodor Billroth, who was born in Bergen on Rügen. The tree named after him has a circumference of 3.55 meters, is around 120 years old and has been a natural monument since 1950.
Billroth House in Bergen on Rügen
● Bergen auf Rügen
The famous surgeon Theodor Billroth was once born in the Billroth House in Bergen. The house was built in 1800 as a town house. Theodor Billroth was born here in 1829. After spending the first 3 years of his childhood here, he lived in Greifswald. After working in Göttingen and Berlin, Billroth was appointed Professor of Surgery in Zurich in 1859. Billroth's main achievement was the development of new surgical methods for gastric resections (first performed at the University of Vienna in 1881). The creation of "medical charts" can also be attributed to him. He was one of the most outstanding surgeons of his time. In 1892, while he was still alive, he was honored with a bronze memorial plaque. In 1998, the German Society of Surgery took over the building in recognition of Theodor Billroth's achievements in surgery. Billroth died in 1894 and was buried in Vienna. The premises are open to the public for the "Billroth's House Concert" event.
Inland dune Klein Schmölen
There are not many natural elevations in the Elbe valley floodplain, which should certainly please cyclists. This makes the inland dunes at Klein Schmölen near Dömitz, which can be seen from afar from the Elbe riverbank road, all the more interesting. The largest inland dune in Europe rises impressively on the edge of the Mecklenburg Elbe Valley Nature Park. From its highest point, around 42 meters above sea level, visitors have a magnificent view over the Löcknitz lowlands in Mecklenburg, the Lenzener Wische in Brandenburg and the Elbe foreland on the Lower Saxony side. The fascinating dune complex with a length of a good two kilometers was formed at the end of the last ice age, around 12,000 years ago. Special climatic and very different soil conditions have allowed an extremely diverse plant world to develop here, which in turn provides a habitat for rare and protected species of birds and insects. The dune can be walked through on designated paths, and information boards along the way provide information about the special features of the geological formation. Guided tours are also offered on a regular basis.

Organic nursery Watzkendorf
● Blankensee
Vegetables have been grown in the small village of Watzkendorf between the Müritz National Park and the Feldberger Seenlandschaft Nature Park since 1961. We produce a wide range of vegetable crops in the main season from June to October. In the years following German reunification, the vegetable farm developed into an organic market garden and became a member of the Bioland association in 1996. At that time, we cultivated 7 hectares of open land and 6 foil tunnels as well as the centerpiece - a 1,200 m² heatable greenhouse. Today we grow on approx. 21 hectares of open land, in 6,300 m² of greenhouses, 5,100 m² of foil tunnels and 4,500 m² of foil houses. We extend our season by growing in foil tunnels and greenhouses. In order to be able to supply the market continuously, we grow many crops in sets. For example, 24 sets of lettuce are planted. This means sowing and planting every week from February to August in order to be able to harvest lettuce from April to October. We also grow whatever we can get into the ground: various cabbage vegetables leafy vegetables root vegetables onion plants and fruit vegetables. You can find the availability of individual vegetables in our seasonal calendar at biogaertnerei-watzkendorf.de. Or simply drop by: we are happy to sell from our cold stores to customers who visit us on the farm. Our young plants can also be purchased directly from the greenhouse.

Will organic sheep farm & farm store
● Fuhlendorf
Sheep farm with farm sales of certified organic meat products from its own production: lamb, lamb sausages, lamb sausage, lamb burgers as well as salami, ham and crackers from sheep. A new addition is the extensive range of sheep's cheese. Our sheep graze almost all year round on the meadows of the southern Bodden coast in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In winter, about half of the ewes spend time in the barn to give birth and raise their lambs. They are fed with hay and wilted silage from our own meadows. In addition, we source organic grains such as barley and oats from other organic farms to cover the energy and protein requirements of our sheep and lambs. We have been a certified organic farm since 2013. I, Stephan Jakob Will, am a veterinary practitioner and treat my sheep exclusively with homeopathic remedies in the event of illness. This ensures a particularly high quality of meat, free from pharmaceutical and chemical residues. In our store you can order fresh lamb, various types of lamb sausage, lamb ham and sheep meat. Our sausages are made from 100% lamb or sheep meat. You can buy directly from the sheep farm on Saturdays from 9.00 am to 10.30 am.
Bio24 at Stall.dich.ein - café, village store & online store
● Poppendorf
The converted old pigsty in Poppendorf has been given a new lease of life. The in-house café, village store and online store sell homemade and regional food in organic quality. From pigsty to adventure farm: When Volker Schenzle started to renovate the old pigsty, the building was in a state of disrepair and unusable. He had a great vision: Poppendorf should have a village store, a café and creative spaces. A beautiful building was gradually erected with funding and a lot of his own work. In addition to the village store itself, there is now a café with a pub, a painter's studio, a dance hall and cinema, a sewing workshop and a ceramics workshop, a festival barn, a playground and two smoke ovens and two stone ovens. The great desire was to develop a non-profit concept that not only includes the village store and café, but also revives the village character. In addition to events, the program also includes the rental of premises or participation and charitable work. If you are interested in the concept, please contact us: We want our model to be copied and to make the world a better place in this way. We will tell you everything - transparently and openly. Opening hours Friday 9-18 o'clock Breakfast, village store, bread rolls, coffee & cake, from 07.10.2022, 7 pm pub service with Volker Schenzle & team Saturday 9 am - 6 pm Breakfast, village store, bread rolls, coffee & cake Sunday 9 am - 6 pm Café with Sunday brunch & rolls, coffee & cake

Organic farm Tacke with farm store
● Dorf Mecklenburg
Not far from the Baltic Sea, a stiff breeze always in our faces, we can let our gaze wander over our fields as far as Wismar... Here we live and work according to organic guidelines. In our farm store you will find organic products directly from the farm and from the region. We work ecologically, in harmony with nature. Outside is our home. In wind and weather. We were born with this in mind. We treat our environment in such a way that it remains usable and nourishing for future generations. As a team, we look after the land, the crops, the cattle, the geese, the vegetables and the bees. The circular economy is particularly important to us. Everything here should work together. The geese and cattle provide the nursery and the fields with valuable manure, they graze on the pastures and ensure biodiversity. Our honeybees help with pollination and secure yields, but at the same time they also make us aware of the need to create a diverse range of crops. This is helped not only by a diverse crop rotation, but also by the flowering meadow, which can be sponsored. In this way, we offer direct contact with nature. We also provide insights into organic farming through educational farm activities. With farm education, we offer young and old experiences on the farm at regular intervals. Information on dates can be found on our homepage. From here, from the farm, for you. And naturally, originally and as unaltered as possible. That is the standard we set for our products in the farm store. Come by and visit our farm store in Dorf Mecklenburg. We look forward to seeing you!
