Biosphaerium Elbtalaue Bleckede - Information center for the biosphere reserve
The Elbtalaue Biosphaerium in Bleckede is the official information center for the Lower Saxony Elbtalaue Biosphere Reserve. Interactive media stations, a cinema room and the entertaining "Biosphere Quiz 1, 2 or 3" await visitors of all ages on around 60 square meters in the new biosphere room. Anyone who loves nature in northern Germany - whether on the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern or inland - will find a rewarding insight into one of the most species-rich river landscapes in Germany.
Watch beavers and Elbe fish live
A particular highlight is the spacious beaver enclosure, where European beavers are kept in a species-appropriate environment. Depending on the time of day, the animals can be observed outside or in their beaver lodge. In the impressive aquarium landscape with eight tanks and a total capacity of 70,000 liters, visitors can get up close and personal with native Elbe fish - from eels to zander.
Ideal starting point for tours in the Elbe floodplain
The Biosphaerium is the perfect starting point for exploring the Elbe floodplain on your own. Anyone exploring the natural areas of northern Germany anyway - such as the coastal landscapes around Rügen, Fischland-Darß-Zingst or the surroundings of Rostock and Wismar - can easily plan Bleckede as a stopover on a round trip through the north.
