Herrschaftszeiten Bistro & Art Gallery
● Boizenburg/Elbe
Traditional culinary art meets modern ideas, enriched by art in various styles. At our location at Hamburger Str. 37/40 in Boizenburg, the Beckhaus family founded an iron foundry and machine factory in 1853. As far as we know, the business operated until the 1920s. A lot has happened since then. During the GDR era, various trades from the Boizenburg Elbewerft shipyard operated on the site. I, the owner of the bistro and art gallery Herrschaftszeiten, acquired the property in 2018 as a commercial complex. Initially, my sole objective was to lease and maintain it. However, there was also this idea—conceived by my wife and me, but shelved for a long time. Our dream was to create a place for people to gather and for art in Boizenburg. Because we know from our own experience that appreciating and engaging with art goes through the stomach, we also needed to add a dining component. In the winter of 2019–2020, we got to work. Plagued by complications and hundreds of regulations, but with the support of wonderful craftsmen, we are now looking forward to bringing our bistro and art gallery “Herrschaftszeiten” to life. You are invited to join us on this journey. We would be delighted if you spent some wonderful hours with us. It’s now summer 2021—more than three years have passed since we began, during which time we’ve received so much appreciation and encouragement. The restaurant has evolved into a place of conviviality and enjoyment. We continue to strive to delight our guests with warmth, authentic food, and a constant stream of new culinary ideas. Warm regards, Peter Scholz & Team
