Vellahn Forest Bathing Area

Cool off under the open sky in a well-maintained facility nestled in the heart of the forest. It’s the perfect way to enjoy a hot summer day. Since there are no natural swimming spots in the immediate vicinity of Vellahn, the Waldbad was built more than 30 years ago. Tucked away idyllically in the woods, about one kilometer off Federal Highway 5, between Vellahn and Brahlstorf, lies the Waldbad. The well-maintained facility features two pools: a large one for swimmers and another for children to splash around to their hearts’ content. Play and climbing equipment, a table tennis table, and a volleyball court offer additional opportunities to enjoy an active yet relaxing day here when the weather is nice. A special attraction is the 35-meter-long slide that leads directly into the cool water. From the large sun terrace, you have a magnificent view of the facility with its spacious sunbathing lawn and shady trees for those who don’t want to be fully exposed to the sun. While birdsong and the tapping of a woodpecker underscore the heavenly tranquility, the Waldbad offers not only swimming fun but also a feast for the eyes: probably nowhere else in the region does a public pool feature such lovingly landscaped and well-maintained flower beds. In addition to swimming lessons, playground equipment rentals, a barbecue area, and ample parking right next to the pool, there are also RV sites for stays of several days. From here, you can set out on bike rides or hikes through the area’s lush forests and meadows. Nature and hiking enthusiasts of all ages have been attracted to the brand new forest adventure area in the Teterow Heidberge since September 2024 Nature lovers and hikers will find a special kind of forest adventure area in the Teterower Heidberge. A colorful mix of deciduous and coniferous trees grows in this landscape shaped by the Ice Age. Occasionally you will come across fens and alder swamp forests. Natural phenomena, interesting plant and animal species and their secrets and talents can be discovered at many different stations. The broad thematic spectrum of the area also includes topics such as climate change and natural pharmacy. An adventure station also leads into the moor. The forest adventure trail is divided into two sections. The main trail - Forest of Talents - comprises 9 stations over a length of 1.6 km. On the Philosopher's Path, there are another 5 stations over a distance of just under 1 km. The Dargun Forestry Office offers educational forest activities for school classes and children's groups. These offers are free of charge. Once in the Heidbergen, visitors should definitely plan a detour to the memorial - a monument to the victims of the First World War. From its platform, hikers can enjoy a wide view over the treetops into the landscape of Mecklenburg Switzerland.

Friedrichsmoor forest adventure trail - legendary Lewitz

The world of legends in the Lewitz is teeming with dragons, mythical creatures and all kinds of secrets from the history of Germany's largest meadow landscape. There are a total of 16 stations along the trail, each of which has a legend as its theme. Artists have created statues for each station, and the legend can be read on boards or accessed as an audio play via QR code. There are discovery tasks for children and information about the forest and nature is provided in a fun way. The trail starts and ends at the Friedrichsmoor hunting lodge and is suitable for hikers and cyclists. Dat kannst mi glöven - (You can believe me) An enchanted meadow and forest landscape like the Lewitz naturally inspires fairy tales and legends. There are stories of white women roaming the mist-covered fields, of the Wild Hunt rushing along the country lanes at night and of magnificent white stags emerging from the thickets of mighty oaks and beeches. Legends usually have a true core and lead back to the time when the Lewitz was settled by Slavs or to the time of the Napoleonic Wars. On the "Legendary Lewitz" forest adventure trail (12 km cycle path or 4 km hiking trail), visitors can get to know the legends of the landscape. At 16 stations, visitors can get to the bottom of the myths with adventure and discovery stations. Knowledge about nature is also imparted in a playful way. The two-part forest adventure trail promises visitors space to discover and let off steam, educational information and, above all, fun for the whole family in the midst of nature. The adventure trail is divided into two areas: the Forest of Talents with ten stations and the Philosopher's Path with a further six stations. In the Forest of Talents, visitors can explore or measure themselves against the talents of the forest or its inhabitants. The two areas can be explored separately or together. In the Forest of Talents, there is station one, "Sporting talent wanted", in the immediate vicinity of the forest playground. The sporting talents of the forest's inhabitants are explained here. On the Philosopher's Path, an old forester tells his granddaughter interesting facts about the forest and man-made climate change on an information board. There are plenty of places to sit along the forest adventure trail, as well as views of the open countryside.

Traditional excursion restaurant on the outskirts of Teterow In a clearing between old trees in the middle of the "Hohes Holz" hiking area in Teterow stands the forest restaurant with the same name. A pub was already operating here around 1900. Today, the popular excursion restaurant still invites hikers and guests to linger. The menu includes home-style cooking as well as various fish and meat dishes. The Hohe Holz has a magnificent beech tree population. The seed of the trees has the "special origin" quality seal. The stone cist grave in the Hohe Holz - an archaeological monument - dates back to between 3,000 and 1,800 BC. The Hohe Holz is one of Teterow's three urban hiking areas and invites you to take a walk through the forest to the legendary Hertha Lake.

The Lütt Holhus Forest Museum is a small, hands-on forest discovery center that shares interesting and informative facts about local forests and their flora and fauna. This small forest discovery center offers visitors insights into the plant and animal life of our forests. By trying things out for themselves—smelling, hearing, and feeling—visitors retain many things better in their memory and may be able to rediscover or discover them anew in the forest. Opportunities for this include the forest pharmacy, sound and touch boxes, a “walk-through fox den,” and more. A camera allows visitors to observe the pair of storks living at the forestry farm as they nest and raise their young. Outdoors, visitors can explore a Harz-style hut, a lumberjack’s wagon, and a mini-nursery. The museum is an ideal starting point for hikes to the Heiligen Hallen and the Paradiesgarten. Guided tours are available by appointment. The museum’s offerings are complemented by rotating special exhibitions, a small shop selling books, maps, souvenirs, and game products, as well as a vending machine. Semper Forest Park

Semper Forest Park - witches' forest and crippled beeches. When Semper Castle was built in Lietzow on the island of Rügen around 1920, the forest park was also created. The park, which covers around 38 hectares, is located in the Semper Heath and offers wonderful views of the large Jasmund Bodden with its high bank path. From 1963 to 1990, Semper Castle and its many outbuildings were used as a training center and recreation home for police officers. Today it is privately owned. From 2000 to 2003, the forest park was reconstructed according to the historical model by the Ostrügen Landscape Conservation Association. For the 2003 International Garden Show in Rostock, it shone in new splendor as an outdoor location. Today, the forest park with its cascading ponds, rhododendron avenue and 100-year-old oaks invites visitors to explore. A rarity are the so-called Süntel beech trees, a rare mutation of a beech tree. They are also known as "witch beeches" due to their bizarre growth.

This is extracted from an underground "sea" at a depth of 1550 meters in the geothermal plant on the Papenberg. Balneological reports by the Fresenius Institute have confirmed that Waren's thermal brine meets the criteria for natural healing water and is therefore entitled to bear the designation "iodine-containing thermal brine". There are particularly promising treatment options for skin diseases, respiratory diseases and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The iodine-containing thermal brine is the basis for the "Waren bath salt". This makes it possible to use it at home. Laage Water and Observation Tower

The former water tower offers a superb view of the Recknitz Valley Master mason Hehl built the water tower in 1925–1926. It housed a wrought-iron water tank with a capacity of 100 cubic meters. The tower was in use until around 1980. Today, this historic monument serves as an observation tower. From the top, visitors can enjoy a sweeping view of the Recknitz Valley, a glacial valley formed during the Ice Age.
