Laage Water and Observation Tower
The former water tower offers a superb view of the Recknitz Valley Master mason Hehl built the water tower in 1925–1926.
It housed a wrought-iron water tank with a capacity of 100 cubic meters. The tower was in use until around 1980. Today, this historic monument serves as an observation tower. From the top, visitors can enjoy a sweeping view of the Recknitz Valley, a glacial valley formed during the Ice Age.

The Laage Water and Observation Tower is a striking historic landmark in Laage, Mecklenburg, south of Rostock. Master mason Hehl had it built in 1925 and 1926. Inside was a wrought-iron water tank with a capacity of 100 cubic meters, which ensured the local water supply. The tower remained in operation until around 1980, when it ceased to serve its original purpose.

Today, the historic landmark serves as an observation tower. From its height, visitors can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the Recknitz Valley—a vast glacial valley that has significantly shaped the landscape of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The valley lies between Rostock and the Baltic Sea coast around Fischland-Darß-Zingst and offers a peaceful, natural setting away from major tourist centers such as Stralsund or Greifswald.

The restaurant has a total of 78 indoor and outdoor seats and can also be booked for events.
