Town Hall in Nowe Warpno

The half-timbered building was erected in 1627 on the site of its predecessor, which had been destroyed by fire. The town hall has served as the seat of the municipal government since its inception. The town hall is located in the northwestern part of Nowe Warpno, in the center of Plac Zwycięstwa, which is bordered by ul. Warszawska to the northeast and ul. Kościuszki to the southwest. Magnificent linden trees grow in front of the town hall. The date of construction of the first town hall in Nowe Warpno is unknown. The first mention of a town hall dates back to 1556, when, following the town fire of 1555, reconstruction of the town began thanks to the grants made by Duke Philip I (the settlement was granted, among other things, rights to the island of Kahleberg, now called Łysa Wyspa or Ptasia Wyspa), the town’s reconstruction began. Documents from that time also mention a Gothic town hall. The foundations of the current town hall are remnants of the Gothic one. Nowe Warpno was ravaged by fires many times. In the next fire, in 1692, the town hall burned down again. Subsequently, in 1697, the current town hall was built in the Baroque style. The building was constructed using the half-timbered technique common at the time. The shape and architectural composition of the facade have been completely preserved to this day. The few renovations carried out since its construction involved repairs to small facade elements and minor changes to the building’s interior. In 1885, among other things, the door frames were replaced, some basement ceilings were renewed, the tower walls were reinforced, and the facade was re-plastered. A 20th-century fire station is attached to the northeast wall of the town hall. It was originally built entirely of half-timber. It currently houses the offices of the municipal administration. From the very beginning, the town hall served as the seat of the municipal administration. It continues to fulfill its original function today. It is a unique structure and the most valuable historical monument in Nowe Warpno. It is also likely the only town hall of its kind in Poland that still serves its original purpose today. The town hall was built on stone and brick foundations that originally formed the base of the Gothic town hall. The framework of the walls consists of brown-toned oak. The spaces between the timbers are filled with ceramic bricks. The roof truss was constructed using the rafter-collar beam technique with roof truss supports on both sides. The structural base of the spire consists of eight load-bearing columns, which are braced by intersecting struts and secured at the bottom—on two levels—with clamps. The tower features a clock whose movement was manufactured in 1922 in Berlin at the Georg Richter Tower Clock Factory. The tower itself and the ridge turret of the former fire station are clad in galvanized sheet metal. The tower offers a beautiful view of Lake Nowowarpieńskie, the Podgrodzie district, Altwarp, and the town itself. The town hall is listed in the register of historic monuments. Its volume is approximately 2,840 m³ and its floor area is 285 m². Because it continues to serve its original function (as the seat of the municipal administration), the building is not open to the public for self-guided tours. The building is open only during office hours. Without causing any major disruption, visitors can enter the foyer and the office corridors, the city council chamber, and the wedding hall; however, gaining access to the tower or the offices will not be so easy.

Rechlin Wall

Rechlin's development is closely linked to aviation technology. Already during the First World War, a railroad connection was built and an aviation testing and training institute was handed over. All activities come to a standstill as a result of the Treaty of Versailles. It was not until 1934 that the site was rapidly expanded to become the largest test site of the German Air Force on the Müritz. Housing estates (today Rechlin and Rechlin-Nord) with the corresponding infrastructure were built, and the Mirower Canal and the Claassee-Müritz link were constructed. The village acquires its settlement structure, which is atypical for a Mecklenburg village. Around 1940, around 4000 people lived and worked in Rechlin. In addition, there were conscripts, forced laborers and concentration camp prisoners who were deployed as auxiliary workers at the testing site. The constant expansion of the Lärz airfield required extensive earthworks and leveling work. During this time, Rechlin undoubtedly achieved top organizational, engineering and aeronautical performances. Rechlin was developed into an important garrison base and separated into two parts by a wall, the German and Russian sectors. This wall only came down in 1993 with the withdrawal of the last CIS forces.

This gives them their unique "crackle": the glaze cracks and in the subsequent fire bath, carbon settles in the cracks, giving the surfaces of the lovable Rakuritäten a noble life of their own." Kaliß Regional Museum

The Kaliß Regional Museum in the former village school houses the local history and geology collection of the teacher and local historian Hans-Joachim Bötefür (deceased). Visitors are given an insight into the geology of the Wanzeberg and the history of the Neu Kaliß paper mill and lignite mining around Malliß. The museum focuses on the geology of the Wanzeberg as a regional specialty. Rich deposits of gypsum, clay, salt and lignite have meant that mining has been carried out in the region around Malliß since 1304. Lignite mining in particular is presented in the exhibition using various exhibits and models. Another exhibition is dedicated to the history of the Neu Kaliß fine paper mill. Documents such as patent specifications, plans and drawings as well as photos bear witness to the development of the company. The exhibition is complemented by old inventory. In another section of the regional museum, countless fossils found in the region are on display, as well as archaeological finds such as Stone Age tools, vessels and other excavation finds. These include the remains of the entrance to the Marienstollen, which were uncovered during restoration work in 1996. There are constantly changing exhibitions on the upper floor of the regional museum. Here, local artists give an insight into their creative work.

Gabriel Rodenberg is the boss and owner of the riding facility of the same name at FerienGut Dalwitz. Guests receive qualified riding lessons from him and his staff in English riding style up to medium (M) level and in Western riding. The youngest riders, from 4 to 8 years old, can learn to ride from the very beginning on ponies of various sizes. The horses are housed in spacious boxes in the riding hall and in the gatehouse stable or live all year round in the pastures of the Dalwitz estate. The box horses are given daily access to the paddock. We pay attention to high-quality feed and fixed times for feeding the horses. Western riding on Criollos is an alternative to the classic English riding style for beginners, those making the transition and adult beginners. These South American horses, which Heino Graf von Bassewitz once brought back from Uruguay, have been bred and trained at the "La Primera" stud farm since 1992. They are characterized by their robust and very docile nature and are our partners in cattle work. Saddle fit riders can take part in the work with the cattle and help us in the pastures in the spring and fall with herding and sorting. Special courses and riding programs are published on the website of the Dalwitz estate. Those who prefer a quieter pace can enjoy their vacation in the saddle on extensive cross-country rides through the Mecklenburg ParkLand. Criollos, Quarter Horses, Mecklenburgers, Holsteins, Hanoverians and Oldenburgs are available for riding lessons and rides. Hunting riders get their money's worth with us. You can experience dog training and hunting behind the Mecklenburg pack on our own and trained hunting horses. Equestrian monument to Frederick Francis II in Schwerin Palace Gardens

The equestrian statue of the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin stands opposite the palace on a square in the palace garden. Surrounded by flowers, rose bushes and the romantic arcades, the grounds are a highlight of the Schwerin Palace Gardens. A monument to the Grand Duke After the death of the popular Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II - the builder of the palace in Schwerin - his son commissioned the construction of a monumental statue. The object was financed by donations. It is considered to be the only historical equestrian statue in the whole of Mecklenburg. An eventful history The work by the Mecklenburg sculptor Ludwig Brunow was ceremoniously unveiled in 1893 - in the presence of high-ranking state guests such as Emperor Wilhelm II and Grand Duke Vladimir of Russia, as well as all the nobility of the Mecklenburg court. Inspired by the equestrian statues of Roman emperors and the Prussian Elector in Berlin, it was designed according to the typical, mostly military-influenced taste of the late 19th century. The figures of the Grand Duke and his horse stand on a marble plinth more than 4 meters high. The ruler's virtues The plinth is surrounded by allegories of the 4 virtues of rulers: Strength, Justice, Wisdom and Faith. Two commemorative plaques show events from Frederick Francis II's reign - the construction of the new university building in Rostock and the Grand Duke's entry into Schwerin in 1871. The monument was lucky to survive two wars and two dictatorships. It escaped being melted down for war purposes, the iconoclasm after the end of the war and being scrapped.

There is hardly anything comparable in the secular architecture of northern Germany at the same time. The opening of the Renaissance Room at Mühlenstraße 17 has enriched cultural life in Güstrow since 2006. Concerts, readings and comedy performances take place here five to six times a year. The room has space for 40 people - and that is exactly what makes the atmosphere so special. Artists and guests are very close together here. Visits are possible to a limited extent during the opening hours of the Güstrow consumer advice center.
