St. Peter Paul's Church

The village of Zingst only came into being in the first half of the 19th century, which is why the Zingst church is younger than other sacred buildings in the region. It was built in two years by order of the Prussian royal government and consecrated in the fall of 1862. The architect of the simple towerless building in neo-Gothic style was the then court architect Friedrich August Stüler, a pupil of Schinkel. Dietrich Bonhoefer's work at the Zingsthof in 1935 and his sermon from the pulpit of the church in the same year are of historical significance. In 1986, the church received a new organ, built by the Sauer company (Frankfurt/Oder) while retaining the case of the old Mehmel organ.

Pfaffenteich

The Pfaffenteich in the heart of Schwerin, surrounded by a wide promenade, stretches over 12 hectares and is lined with impressive historical ensembles. Once the source of a mill and now a symbol of the city, it offers a harmonious combination of history and relaxation. There is a true story behind the name of Schwerin's "Little Inner Alster". Pastors and bishops of the nearby cathedral parish once cultivated their gardens on the eastern shore of the man-made lake. A dam was probably built as early as the 12th century to retain water for the operation of a mill. The former "mill pond" used to extend as far as today's Schlossstraße; the water also fed the moat at the time. The Pfaffenteich in its current form covers an area of around 12 hectares and was redesigned at the end of the 19th century. The water is bordered by a wide promenade, which is a real invitation to take a stroll. Numerous beautiful historic town houses surround the Pfaffenteich. Two sun terraces offer lovely places to linger and enjoy the view. The small Pfaffenteich ferry "Petermännchen", which shuttles between the banks without a timetable, also has a long tradition.

Greifswald-Wieck Parish Church

Concerts for the Greifswald Bach Week are held at the parish church in Greifswald-Wieck. A church in Wieck was first mentioned in historical records in the 13th century. However, it was not located on the current church square, but in the center of the village. After another church building was rendered unusable by storm surge damage, the new construction—which had been postponed several times—was finally completed at the end of the 19th century. The Neo-Romanesque church was finished in 1883. Inside the church, the Mehmel organ, the pulpit, and the model ships—which evoke the seafaring tradition that shaped the town of Wieck for centuries—are worth seeing.

St. Jacek Parish Church

The floor plan of the church, built in 1741, is in the shape of an equilateral Greek cross, which is a great rarity in this area. The half-timbered structure is covered with stucco. The church is located in the northwestern part of the village, on Provincial Road No. 111. Nearby is Zatoka Stepnicka (Stepenitz Bay). The church was built between 1793 and 1741 using a timber-frame construction with brick infill in the bays and a Greek cross floor plan, which is a rarity in Western Pomerania. In 1840–1841, the façade was plastered over, so that the half-timbered structure is no longer visible. Notable features inside the church include the Baroque altar, the side and choir galleries, and the 17th-century pews.

St. Mary's parish church

Güstrow's parish church is located on the market square in the immediate vicinity of the town hall. The first documented mention of the parish church dates back to 1308. After the fire in Güstrow city center in 1503, which also destroyed the church, it was rebuilt and consecrated in 1508. When you enter the parish church, the first thing you see is the fully restored Jan Borman altar from 1522. This work of art, the ornate pulpit, the impressive organ and a small Barlach angel are reasons enough to take a look around. But there is one very special highlight that you should definitely not miss: 196 steps up to the 41-metre-high viewing platform of Güstrow's tallest building. Many tourists are amazed by the magnificent view over the town and Heidberge, the lakes and the meadows. The first documented mention of the parish church dates back to 1308. After the fire in Güstrow town centre in 1503, which also destroyed the church, it was rebuilt and consecrated in 1508. According to plans by architect Georg Daniel, it was extensively rebuilt between 1880 and 1883 into a three-nave hall church with a straight east end, three gabled roofs over the naves and a side hall with a west tower. The large winged altar from 1522, a work from the workshop of the Brussels carver Jan Borman, is one of the church's outstanding artistic treasures. The panels of the altar were painted by the Brussels artist Bernaert van Orley. The triumphal cross group (1516), the Madonna in the aureole, the sandstone pulpit (1583) by the Antwerp master Rudolf Stockmann, the council stalls with valuable inlay work (1599) by Michel Meyer from Rostock and numerous Renaissance epitaphs are among the valuable furnishings. The organ with 41 stops was built by Paul Schmidt in 1764/1765. The magnificent organ façade and the rococo baroque-style gallery also date from this period. The oak figure of the mourning Mary with the body of Christ, a Pietá from the end of the 15th century, is the oldest work of art in the church, but modern art is also represented in the imposing brick church. Since 1979, the "Angel of Hope" (1933), a terracotta relief by Ernst Barlach, has been located on the right pillar of the chancel. It is not easy to climb up the tower to the baroque spire. But the effort is rewarded with a sweeping view of the Mecklenburg countryside. St. Mary's parish church is certified as "Partially barrier-free for people with walking disabilities and partially barrier-free for people with hearing disabilities" according to Travel for All. The silhouette of the town of Parchim in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin region is dominated by St. Mary's Church, an impressive example of late Romanesque church buildings in Mecklenburg. The parish church of St. Mary impressively shapes the skyline of the town of Parchim and is a legendary brick building on a fieldstone base from the period of transition from late Romanesque to early Gothic. The church was consecrated in 1278 and is part of the European Route of Brick Gothic The most valuable parts of the interior include the bronze baptismal font from 1365, the carved winged altar with 24 saints from the 15th century, a Renaissance pulpit from 1601 and an organ from 1670/80. Pfennigkasten - Megalithic Tomb in Stubnitz

The "Pfennigkasten" megalithic tomb lies hidden in the beech forests of Stubnitz. The path to it is signposted along the hiking trail from the Hagen parking lot to the Königsstuhl. The east-west-oriented, incomplete burial chamber of this large dolmen—typical of Rügen and featuring a vestibule—measures approximately 4 x 1.50 m. On one of the capstones, the remains of which are located in the immediate vicinity, approximately 20 carved cup marks were discovered. Peenemünde Horse Beach

Riding or leading horses on Prerow beach is not permitted. Exceptions for certain sections and periods may be granted by the municipality upon application to local riding stables. On the Darß you will find everything you need for a vacation with a horse: miles of forest paths, endless meadows and natural romantic beaches. Riding stables in the vicinity of Prerow also offer guided tours and pony rides for children.

Stolper Ort horse beach

Riding on the beach is permitted all year round. This area is located in a nature reserve in the Rostock Heath. Get on your horse and into the saddle. With its meadows and forests, the Rostock Heath offers a wonderful landscape that can be experienced on numerous bridle paths right up to the Baltic Sea. Riding on the white, fine sandy beach at Stolper Ort is permitted all year round on a length of three groyne sections and is one of the highlights of every riding excursion. You are welcome to contact local riding stables or use the forest parking lots as a starting point if you are traveling with a horse trailer. Please always stay on the designated bridleways in the forest (required by law) and show consideration for all other forest visitors. At the Stolper Ort natural beach (Rosenortschneise) in the Rostock Heath, riding is permitted all year round on a length of three groyne sections.
