The treetop walk at the Rügen Natural Heritage Center in Prora, just outside the Baltic Sea resort of Binz, takes you even higher. At a height of four to 17 meters, visitors can walk at eye level with the treetops of pristine beech forests. The (space too many) 40-metre-high "Adlerhorst" observation tower, which is part of the trail, offers a fantastic panoramic view over large parts of the island of Rügen. Visitors to the center can discover the 1,958-hectare DBU Prora Natural Heritage Site between the Little Jasmund Bodden and Prorer Wiek from a bird's eye view. Fuhlendorf nature trail "In the forest of the jay"

A riddle must be solved in order to release a small, enchanted boy from his spell. There is a hidden gemstone with a letter board at each of the 7 stations along the nature trail. Watch out, the jay on the information board gives valuable tips. Story of the boy and the gemstone. A boy once lived in Fuhlendorf. He loved to play in the forest and was friends with all the animals and plants. One day he saw something glittering on the forest floor. Curious, he looked and discovered a beautiful gemstone. Just as he was about to pick it up, the jay above him in the pine tree called out: "Leave it, leave it, rattle, rattle!" But the boy picked up the gemstone and pocketed it. Then he turned into a pine tree ... The jay, however, who had been watching everything, called out mysteriously: "7 gemstones with 7 letters must be found and 7 riddles solved, only then will the boy be free again! Rattle, rattle!" A riddle must be solved in order to release a small, enchanted boy from his spell. At each of the 7 stations along the nature trail there is a hidden gemstone with a letter board. Beech hall The "Buchenhalle" is located between the animal puzzle trail and the forest eye trail. Take a look at how wonderful the forest is here - with its thick, tall trunks, it looks like a "hall". The jay likes it best in spring, before the beech leaves sprout or when an old tree falls. Then it's all green and in bloom! "I find lots of goodies to eat! I can hide my nest well in bushes and small trees from squirrels, dormice and other jays, so that my children grow up protected. The trail takes you through a scenic area of the Mecklenburg Switzerland Nature Park along the cliffs on the eastern shore of Lake Kummerow. The Seeberge nature trail is located on the eastern shore between Gravelotte and Verchen and leads its guests through a charming part of the Mecklenburg Switzerland Nature Park and Lake Kummerow. You hike through the eastern steep bank of Lake Kummerow with small valleys cut into it.33 km² in size, Lake Kummerow is the fourth largest lake in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is of great importance as a resting place and feeding biotope for migrating waterfowl. 173 bird species have been recorded here. For example, lesser spotted eagles, ospreys and white-tailed eagles, as well as ducks such as great crested grebes, wigeons and white-fronted geese are waiting for your visit!

Natural harbor Puddemin

Peace, nature experience and active joie de vivre in the natural harbor of Puddemin. Well-known water sports and fishing associations in the region have concluded a voluntary agreement with WWF and BUND to bring water sports and nature into harmony. The "Glewitzer and Puddeminer Wiek" are sensitive natural habitats that require special protection. The harbor offers approx. 30 guest berths with stern piles on the NW quay at a water depth of approx. 2.5 m. Registration in the small harbor building to the SW of the berths or in the "Luv" restaurant. Fishing boats and smaller pleasure craft can be moored at the jetty on the starboard side.

Woliński National Park Natural History Museum

The museum showcases the rich flora and fauna of the national park. The outdoor exhibition is dedicated to interesting bird species and is one of Międzyzdroje’s main attractions. The Wolin National Park Natural History Museum named after Prof. Adam Wodziczko was founded in 1962; it was originally housed in a historic 19th-century white palace and was relocated in 1995 to a modern building with an area of 900 m². The museum showcases collections of the fauna and flora of the Wolin National Park. In 1960, the Scientific Council of the Wolin National Park decided to establish the Natural History Museum. The collection of specimens for the museum began, and in 1961, the first nature exhibition was opened. The exhibition was very well received and was visited by over 3,500 people. In 1962, the exhibition was transformed into the Natural History Museum, which presented several new exhibits and saw a 100% increase in visitors. The museum was enriched with new animal and plant specimens; the constantly expanding collection of exhibits enjoyed great popularity, and by the late 1970s, the museum was visited by approximately 100,000 people per year. In the 1990s, the museum occupied the entire building, with an area of 350 m², and displayed its collections in 8 rooms. In 1995, the museum was relocated to a modern building. The museum’s exhibition occupies 5 halls. Permanent exhibitions showcase the beauty and uniqueness of the park’s natural environment and the richness of its flora and fauna. These include birds of the Swine River delta, forest mammals representative of Wolin’s fauna, and animals from the park’s aquatic ecosystems. At the museum, visitors can learn more about the island’s geological structure and the history of Baltic amber. Of particular note are the large dioramas depicting landscapes characteristic of the park, such as the coast of the Szczecin Lagoon, the seaside cliffs in various seasons, and European bison. The dioramas feature several dozen species of waterfowl, including cormorants, goldeneyes, swans, kingfishers, and great crested grebes. Among the most valuable exhibits are Poland’s largest collection of male Siamese fighting fish in their breeding plumage—numbering about 130 specimens—a specimen of a golden-skinned penguin, a diorama of a white-tailed eagle with chicks, gray seals, bison specimens, and forest mammals. White-tailed eagles are a distinctive symbol of the Wolin National Park. Next to the museum, visitors can admire a pair of these magnificent birds of prey. In addition to white-tailed eagles, the eagle owl—Poland’s largest owl—is also on display. This open-air exhibition is one of Międzyzdroje’s main attractions. The museum also has two modern conference rooms that screen nature films for residents and tourists during the summer. The former museum building houses the Old Museum Gallery, founded in 2005. It features exhibitions on various topics, primarily related to nature and history education as well as artistic creation—photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, and music. The facility is fully accessible to people with disabilities.

Usedom Island Nature Park Information Center

The island of Usedom is one of the most bird-rich areas in Germany. A total of over 280 species have been observed, 150 of which also breed here. Eleven species of birds of prey alone regularly breed in the nature park, including the white-tailed eagle. The Usedom Island Nature Park Information Center is located next to the Usedom Town Information Office on the first floor of the Klaus-Bahlsen-Haus Usedom. This visitor center was built and furnished with great commitment and generous support from the foundation of the same name. On the premises of the former Usedom town station building, visitors are provided with information on the natural environment of the island of Usedom using modern technology. The main theme of "water", a characteristic element of the island of Usedom, runs through the entire exhibition. Themes include the beach and dunes as a habitat, life in the reeds, fen use using the example of the Thurbruch and coastal dynamics using the example of the Streckelsberg. The topic of "Nature conservation on Usedom" is also explained using specimens such as sea eagles, otters and beavers. The Usedom Island Nature Park exhibition is complemented by a 23-minute audio-slide show on Usedom Island Nature Park, which can be seen in the hall of the Klaus-Bahlsen-Haus Usedom.

Devin Peninsula nature reserve

On the southern outskirts of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund is the Devin nature conservation and recreation area with elevation 23. Due to its varied geomorphology and rich flora and fauna, this landscape is not only one of the most beautiful, but also one of the most ecologically valuable in the city. For this reason, a large part of the peninsula (105.5 hectares) was declared a nature reserve in 1993. The peninsula and its adjacent water areas are part of the Europe-wide "Natura 2000" biotope network. The peninsula can be reached from the B 96 via the district of Devin. You can also get there by bus line 3.

Gruel nature conservation station

The nature conservation station has an exhibition that introduces interested visitors to the Recknitz Valley natural area with numerous display and information boards, overview maps, exhibits and animal specimens. The exhibition provides information on the origins of the Recknitz Valley and the valley moor, the existing habitats and the animal and plant species living here and how they have changed as a result of human use, as well as recent renaturation. From May 1 to September 30, the exhibition is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 13:00 to 17:00. Guided tours can also be arranged for small groups. During the winter months, guided tours are only possible by prior arrangement. Visits to the exhibition are generally free of charge for individual tours of the exhibition. A small donation towards the upkeep of the exhibition is gladly accepted for guided tours (duration approx. 1.0 - 1.5 hours, depending on the interests of the visitors). Ludwigsburg Natural Beach

The beach in Ludwigsburg is a popular destination for vacationers and locals from the surrounding area. On hot summer days, you can find a shady spot under the pine trees of the coastal forest, and a small, rustic restaurant offers a solid selection of food and drinks. The homemade cake is highly recommended. For kite and surf enthusiasts, the beach and the shallow waters of the Dänische Wiek and the Greifswalder Bodden offer the best conditions. The beach is located about three kilometers outside of town, right on the Dänische Wieck. It’s easily accessible by bike via a traffic-calmed road. The Baltic Sea Coast Bike Path runs along here. The monitored parking lot costs two euros per day. The beach is very beautiful, with plenty of sand and patches of grass. From here, you have a magnificent view across the Bodden to the silhouette of Greifswald and the harbor. The cozy restaurant with a large terrace invites you to enjoy hot meals and cold ice cream. It’s open daily from May through October. During the colder months, it’s open on weekends. Restrooms are also available. For the little ones, there’s a large playground and plenty of space to run around.

Nikolai Church Anklam

The Nikolai Church in the center of the Hanseatic city of Anklam, very close to the Peene River, is one of the few surviving witnesses to the brick Gothic style from the 750 years since Anklam was founded. The gallery of "Hanseatic coat of arms windows" in the Nikolaikirche is a unique monument in Europe. The Nikolaikirche was built in honor of Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors, fishermen and merchants in Gothic-Hanseatic architecture and was completed in the second half of the 15th century. The church had been the city's landmark for centuries and a symbol of the freedom and prosperity of the Hanseatic citizens. The 103 m high church tower - once a pilot's mark - greeted sailors from far away on the Oderhaff. During the bombing of Anklam at the end of the Second World War, the church was completely destroyed apart from the surrounding walls. In 1994, the Friends of St. Nicholas' Church Anklam e. V. was founded to prevent the impending decay. Since 1995, the church has been gradually rebuilt. The building was already open to the public again in 1999. Today, the former baptistery is Lilienthal's exhibition and event venue. Changing exhibitions are dedicated to the "dream of flight" and the son of the Hanseatic city of Anklam, Otto Lilienthal. The church tower is now accessible again and leads to the highest vantage point in the town. From there, the Peene Valley can be admired in all its beauty. In the future, the "Ikareum" project, an event and visitor center connected to the Otto Lilienthal Museum, is to be realized in the church. The Nikolaikirche Anklam is open from May to October. The Otto Lilienthal Museum also offers guided tours of the church.

North German children's farm Zietlitz

In Zietlitz, a district of the municipality of Sukow, the first North German children's farm shows life in the countryside as it used to be. Many typical regional domestic animals can be experienced in their stables and enclosures. There is a meadow orchard with old varieties of fruit, and vegetables and herbs are also grown, which are made available to the "Kindertafel Schwerin" children's food bank after harvesting. Children get an insight into the work processes on the farm through active participation.
