Maidens' Fountain
● Stralsund
The "Mägdebrunnen" was recreated in 2003 by the German sculptor Günter Kaden on the site of a historic fountain. Its design details have repeatedly inspired various interpretations. Here, where Schillstraße flows into Fährstraße in the direction of the harbor, a fountain "am Schilde" stood for centuries to supply the surrounding population with water. It was the task of the maidservants to fetch the water from the well and carry it to the patrician houses. The sculptor Günter Kaden took up this theme as part of an urban planning competition, won the competition and designed the fountain from a block of granite with a group of bronze figures in 2003. The bronze figures show three maids fetching water and whispering to each other.

Juliusruh Park
● Breege OT Juliusruh
Beautiful park in the village of Juliusruh. Juliusruh Park is a late Baroque park dating from around 1800. The park was laid out on dune sand by Julius von der Lancken in the last third of the so-called "Swedish period", i.e. when Rügen belonged to the Kingdom of Sweden, from 1795. The result was a circular rococo-style park with a single-storey country house, riding arena, bathing house, orange house and two pavilions. The highlight is the swan house on an island in the pond to the south-east. The lime tree seedlings came from Skåne in southern Sweden in 1795. After the estate was sold to Philip Karl Riekmann in 1803, the country house and the associated farm buildings quickly fell into disrepair and the park became overgrown. In 1835, the city of Stralsund acquired the property. Since then, the park has been used as a spa park. A granite stone is dedicated to the initiator of this park. Only part of the once magnificent park has been preserved as a spa park. Admission to the park is free. It is open all year round. Guided tours can be arranged by appointment.
