The Martina Kriedel studio

The Martina Kriedel studio

Zapel bei Hagenow

The idyllic village of Zapel lies in the midst of rustic nature. There, where hedgehogs and hares say goodnight to each other, you will discover the "Atelier Martina Kriedel". In a cozy atmosphere, you can look over the artist's shoulder as she creates. Here you will find the perfect gift for every occasion - whether a portrait or a self-designed marionette. Many portraits, drawn in charcoal, chalk, sepia and pencil, as well as real oil paintings, adorn the walls of the small studio. Why not have your portrait painted? Whether from a photo or a model in several sessions, anything is possible... You can also marvel at the art calendars that Ms. Kriedel has drawn, mostly on behalf of cities: The motifs of the calendars are historical houses, mills and churches from towns in the region. In her small marionette manufactory, Ms. Kriedel produces her miniature marionettes and portrait marionettes as truly unique pieces with her own certificate. Customers can have their own personal marionette made from a photo: The head, hands and feet are modeled, the clothes are tailor-made and fitted with a simple play cross. You can also receive a self-made mini bust, which can represent your desired portrait. This individual gift will cheer you up, as Mrs. Kriedel has her very own creation. For parties and events, there is the mobile puppet theater Kriedelfix, which was specially created by Mrs. Kriedel. The stories, the marionettes, the stage sets, the props and the theater are freely designed by her. Old fairy tales are also performed. The theater can be booked for family celebrations, parties or events on request. The marionette theater is also available in the small theater with 15 seats. Please enquire directly about performance times and current plays. Another offer is the two-hour creative program "The forest witch on a treasure hunt". To find the treasure, the participants have to complete 7 tasks. These tasks are creative, pedagogically selected and close to nature. At the end there is a certificate of participation and a gift to be found in the treasure. The environmental concept and the regional cultural history also play a role. The project promotes creativity, imagination, health and social interaction. Even the NDR accompanied Mrs. Kriedel on a witch hike. Current offer and prices on request. Ms. Kriedel also offers various workshops: Whether pottery, handicrafts, painting: up to 6 people can "let off steam creatively" here, usually in 2-hour workshops. Ms. Kriedel is on hand to provide expert guidance. An in-house kiln enables pottery work as small ceramics.

De oll Dörpschaul

De oll Dörpschaul

Lützow

In the former Dofschule, you can of course enjoy regional and seasonal cuisine. The kitchen becomes a gourmet workshop for you, the classroom a place of culinary delights, the hotel's own garden provides tasty treats and is a haven for bees and eyes. The "Lütt Lädchen" tempts you with home-made products. Naturally regional enjoyment! "Simple and good"...with these words I would like to sum up my philosophy. I, Ute Linke, look forward to welcoming you to the former village school in Rosenow. Here you can snack = eat in peace and with pleasure. What is important to me is a conscious, creative use of products with regard to their seasonal availability and quality, as well as having fun with new culinary ideas, based on traditional cuisine, fresh production and a sense of originality in processing. The food and drink on offer is consciously limited, follows the rhythm of the region, the season and is subject to sustainability, without semi-finished or finished products and free from flavor enhancers. People with intolerances or who wish to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet also have the opportunity to enjoy their food without having to make sacrifices. Get to know the culinary delights of my homeland. Traditional and down-to-earth - I would like to surprise you with originality and subtlety - the culinary map of Mecklenburg is as varied as the landscape. Many vegetables, all herbs and wild herbs as well as fruit come from my own cultivation in Perma Kultur. I will gladly take the time to realize your wishes with you. Therefore I ask you to give me this time to realize them in the best possible way for you. Let yourself go and enjoy the time in the former classroom, browse through the "Lütt Lädchen", or relax on a tour of the hotel's own garden while I work for you in the kitchen. The restaurant is: ...recommended in Gault&Millau 2019/2020 ...bearer of the Schaalsee regional brand > For body and soul < ...recommended by SLOW FOOD pleasure guide Germany since 2013

Alt Damerow village church

Alt Damerow village church

Alt Damerow

The small rectangular half-timbered church in the center of the village is located in the immediate vicinity of the Pingelhof open-air agricultural museum. It was probably built after the Thirty Years' War and before 1700. The members of the Pingel family, who once ran the Pingelhof, now a museum, as a real farm, are buried in the cemetery of the Alt Damerow village church. Village center and witness to the past - After plans were made in the mid-1990s to demolish the dilapidated building and rebuild it in the Mueß/Schwerin open-air museum, great resistance grew, so that the church was completely renovated thanks to numerous local initiatives and reopened in 1998. Even the small bell in the ridge turret, which for a long time could not live up to its inscription "Up and down and up again is my whole course of life" and was only operated by a clapper, has been moving by itself again since the renovation. The members of the Pingel family, who once ran what is now the Pingelhof Museum as a real farm, are buried in the cemetery surrounding the church.

Domsühl village church

Domsühl village church

Domsühl

Plastered fieldstone building between ancient oak trees, decorated inside with baroque paintings. Surrounded by a cemetery and old oak trees, some of which are protected, the church is located in the middle of the village. The remains of a medieval fieldstone building were doubled in length and plastered over around 1840. The interior decoration also dates back to this time, for example the baroque paintings on the organ loft. Only one of the three bells in the wooden bell tower, which was renovated in 1995/96, has been preserved.

Klinken village church

Klinken village church

Klinken

The small church on the outskirts of the village is home to Johann Heinrich Runge's organ masterpiece. Construction of the Gothic brick church in Klinken dates back to the end of the 14th century. It can be found in the cemetery just outside the village. None other than organ builder Johann Heinrich Runge donated his organ masterpiece to the church in 1845. A medieval carved altar and preserved wall and vault paintings also add to the charm of the interior.

Matzlow village church

Matzlow village church

Matzlow-Garwitz

Village church from the late 18th century with characteristic bell tower and carved interior by amateur artist. The Matzlow village church was consecrated in 1789 after the previous church building was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. A characteristic feature of today's half-timbered church is the relatively large, three-storey bell tower, which was added later. Carvings by hobby artist Gerda Schefe from Schwerin adorn the entire interior. These were created in the early 1990s and have been on permanent loan to the Matzlow church ever since

Mirow village church

Mirow village church

Banzkow 0T Mirow

One of the earliest neo-Gothic churches with a particularly elegant design. Rare pulpit altar and Runge organ in the interior. The church in Mirov was built between 1842 and 1845 on the foundations of its medieval predecessor. This makes it one of the earliest neo-Gothic churches and is also considered a particularly high-quality and perfectly formed example of neo-Gothic architecture in the Schwerin region. There are two bells in the tower, whose flat roof no longer corresponds to its original pointed state. One comes from the previous church, while the second was cast in Wismar in 1845. The pulpit altar is rather unusual for a Mecklenburg church. The altarpiece depicts the "Disciples of Emmaus" and is a copy of a painting from the Georgenkirche in Parchim. As in many Lewitz churches, an organ by organ builder Runge can also be heard in Mirow.

Plate village church

Plate village church

Plate

Neo-Gothic building with special carved altar, frieze organ and parish barn for social life Today's Plate church was built in 1848 according to designs by Schwerin architect Theodor Krüger. Other neo-Gothic buildings such as St. Paul's Church in Schwerin and the village church in Banzkow were also designed by him. Only the late Gothic Marian altar, built around 1500, remains from the previous building of the Plater church, which was closed due to the risk of collapse. This carved altar is characterized by the special arrangement of its ten figures. After a fire in 1874, the west tower of the church was replaced by a free-standing belfry. The church organ was built by the Schwerin court organ builder Friedrich Friese in 1873. Thanks to his work, the Friese organ building workshop became the most important in Mecklenburg in the second half of the 19th century. The adjoining parish barn is a popular meeting place and event venue.

Raduhn village church

Raduhn village church

Raduhn

The village church in Raduhn is a mixture of old and new and features a characteristic stepped gable. The neo-Gothic village church in Raduhn is located on the highest point of the former cemetery on the edge of the village. It was consecrated in its current form in 1859 and was built within two years from the previous church building on the same site. Old masonry was integrated and is still visible today between the red bricks. The stepped gables and the small bell tower also catch the eye. Extensive renovations were carried out in the 1960s, including making the room under the organ loft available as a winter church in 1964. The organ from 1850 was built by Johann Heinrich Runge.

Sukow village church

Sukow village church

Sukow

Neo-Gothic building by Theodor Krüger with church bell and altarpiece from the two older predecessor churches. Today's neo-Gothic church in Sukow was designed by the Schwerin architect Theodor Krüger. It was consecrated in 1883 after three years of construction and is already the third church on the same site. A chapel was built in the second half of the 16th century when Sukow was incorporated into the parish of Pinnow, but it did not survive the Thirty Years' War. Only one church bell could be saved, as it had been buried by the inhabitants. It still hangs in the church tower together with two other bells. In 1698, as can be seen on the old weather vane, the go-ahead was given for a second church, which was demolished less than 200 years later. Characteristic of today's church are the altarpiece with Jesus of Gethsemane and a Runge organ, both dating from 1908. A second altarpiece, depicting the Last Supper, Crucifixion and Entombment of Jesus, reappeared during building work and has been placed on the south-east wall of the nave. The brick-look wall design and a wooden roof beam construction also catch the eye. The church bells have only been ringing with the help of a chiming system since 2013 and there is a church clock with dials on three sides of the tower.

Egg tunnel

Bad Kleinen

The Bad Kleinen egg tunnel is a pedestrian tunnel under the railroad track bed. A tubular tunnel was built in 1896 to provide access from the water spa in Bad Kleinen, which opened in 1895, to Lake Schwerin. It became popularly known as the 'egg tunnel'. According to legend, encounters in the egg tunnel guarantee happy marriages. This is said to be ensured by the echo men who live in the cracks and niches of the tunnel.
