The Martina Kriedel studio

The Martina Kriedel studio

📍 Zapel bei Hagenow

The idyllic village of Zapel lies in the midst of rustic nature. There, where hedgehogs and hares say goodnight to each other, you will discover the "Atelier Martina Kriedel". In a cozy atmosphere, you can look over the artist's shoulder as she creates. Here you will find the perfect gift for every occasion - whether a portrait or a self-designed marionette. Many portraits, drawn in charcoal, chalk, sepia and pencil, as well as real oil paintings, adorn the walls of the small studio. Why not have your portrait painted? Whether from a photo or a model in several sessions, anything is possible... You can also marvel at the art calendars that Ms. Kriedel has drawn, mostly on behalf of cities: The motifs of the calendars are historical houses, mills and churches from towns in the region. In her small marionette manufactory, Ms. Kriedel produces her miniature marionettes and portrait marionettes as truly unique pieces with her own certificate. Customers can have their own personal marionette made from a photo: The head, hands and feet are modeled, the clothes are tailor-made and fitted with a simple play cross. You can also receive a self-made mini bust, which can represent your desired portrait. This individual gift will cheer you up, as Mrs. Kriedel has her very own creation. For parties and events, there is the mobile puppet theater Kriedelfix, which was specially created by Mrs. Kriedel. The stories, the marionettes, the stage sets, the props and the theater are freely designed by her. Old fairy tales are also performed. The theater can be booked for family celebrations, parties or events on request. The marionette theater is also available in the small theater with 15 seats. Please enquire directly about performance times and current plays. Another offer is the two-hour creative program "The forest witch on a treasure hunt". To find the treasure, the participants have to complete 7 tasks. These tasks are creative, pedagogically selected and close to nature. At the end there is a certificate of participation and a gift to be found in the treasure. The environmental concept and the regional cultural history also play a role. The project promotes creativity, imagination, health and social interaction. Even the NDR accompanied Mrs. Kriedel on a witch hike. Current offer and prices on request. Ms. Kriedel also offers various workshops: Whether pottery, handicrafts, painting: up to 6 people can "let off steam creatively" here, usually in 2-hour workshops. Ms. Kriedel is on hand to provide expert guidance. An in-house kiln enables pottery work as small ceramics.

Hedge garden

Hedge garden

📍 Schwerin

The hedge garden in Schwerin's southern palace park is a garden that has been preserved from BUGA 2009. Originally designed as a showcase for garden planting ideas, it is reminiscent of labyrinths and mazes from courtly parks. In the immediate vicinity are the Temple of Youth, a restaurant and the Schleifmühle Foam Museum. The hedge garden takes up the tradition of mazes from historical horticulture. Labyrinths served to amuse park visitors, created new perspectives, led them astray and to romantic, dreamy places. In addition, the former Buga show garden shows ideas for your own garden design, for garden boundaries and the creation of small secret garden corners. Different types of hedges - flowering and green - repeatedly create small spaces and oases of greenery.

Riders dressed up in elegant costumes and showed off their noble horses. Today: Today, the Hippodrome is a jewel in the Schwerin Palace Gardens. From here, you have fantastic views of the nearby Faulen See lake and the Jugendtempel. Walkers can enjoy the peace and quiet and linger on the benches. Equestrian monument to Frederick Francis II in Schwerin Palace Gardens

Equestrian monument to Frederick Francis II in Schwerin Palace Gardens

📍 Schwerin

The equestrian statue of the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin stands opposite the palace on a square in the palace garden. Surrounded by flowers, rose bushes and the romantic arcades, the grounds are a highlight of the Schwerin Palace Gardens. A monument to the Grand Duke After the death of the popular Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II - the builder of the palace in Schwerin - his son commissioned the construction of a monumental statue. The object was financed by donations. It is considered to be the only historical equestrian statue in the whole of Mecklenburg. An eventful history The work by the Mecklenburg sculptor Ludwig Brunow was ceremoniously unveiled in 1893 - in the presence of high-ranking state guests such as Emperor Wilhelm II and Grand Duke Vladimir of Russia, as well as all the nobility of the Mecklenburg court. Inspired by the equestrian statues of Roman emperors and the Prussian Elector in Berlin, it was designed according to the typical, mostly military-influenced taste of the late 19th century. The figures of the Grand Duke and his horse stand on a marble plinth more than 4 meters high. The ruler's virtues The plinth is surrounded by allegories of the 4 virtues of rulers: Strength, Justice, Wisdom and Faith. Two commemorative plaques show events from Frederick Francis II's reign - the construction of the new university building in Rostock and the Grand Duke's entry into Schwerin in 1871. The monument was lucky to survive two wars and two dictatorships. It escaped being melted down for war purposes, the iconoclasm after the end of the war and being scrapped.

Riding therapy at the lake - Therapeutic riding

Riding therapy at the lake - Therapeutic riding

📍 Kobande

In therapeutic riding, the horse acts as a motivational partner and encourages people to surpass themselves and stabilize their abilities. This strengthens all areas of development: emotional, mental, physical and social. Other animal-assisted activities are also offered. Animals as therapeutic companions have a healing effect on people. Many people experience encounters with animals that are different from the usual interactions. Observing, feeding, touching and stroking animals radiates safety and security. I incorporate this healing power into my animal-assisted work. The animals remain independent living beings and are there to help people. The relationship between the horse and the young client is a helpful alternative and can be used as a supplement to other therapeutic measures. Therapeutic riding aims to ease children's and young people's fears and frustrations and build trust. This leads to a sense of achievement and newfound self-esteem. The units on the horse consist of sensomotoric, socio- and psychomotoric exercises. In addition, the three-dimensional movements of the horse train the client's balance, coordination, posture, gait and perception.

The von Oertzen family owned the ensemble from 1878 and the von Both family owned the house from 1901 to 1945. It still shines today without any major external changes. In the surrounding park, accessible from a flight of steps via the conservatory, there are free-roaming chickens and geese as well as old trees. The representative castle hall was the official branch of the registry office. The house and grounds have been cared for by the Gerd-Rainer Hienstorfer family since 1992. New owners, Claudia Steinlechner and Vincent Grundke, took over the property some time ago. They are working on the renovation of the house with great personal commitment. Vacation apartments and event rooms are to be created. The owners live here privately.
