The former Premonstratensian monastery in Rehna is a place of peace and inspiration. Located in the heart of the Maurine-Ragedast region, the former convent complex reflects the history of this region. Great concerts in the nunnery garden, contemporary art exhibitions in the cloister, treading water in the Kneipp pool and guided tours of the monastery garden are offered today in one of the largest monastery complexes in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The monastery town of Rehna, in the heart of northwest Mecklenburg, lies on the small river Radegast, picturesquely embedded in a gentle, hilly landscape. With its half-timbered houses, artesian wells and the former monastery complex in the center, the town tells its story at first glance. Founded in the course of Christianization, the town is inextricably linked to the monastery. Many visitors describe Rehna Monastery as a place of tranquillity. At the same time, you can learn about the eventful history of the former monastery complex during a visit. The buildings bear witness to the colonization of the East, the life of the Premonstratensian nuns in Northwest Mecklenburg, secularization and the administrative history of the Rehna region. The 300 m² monastery garden, newly laid out in 2004, the park around the mill pond, the Kneipp facility, art exhibitions in the cloister, concerts in the nuns' garden and five artesian wells in the town can all be experienced. Special half-timbered houses include the German House with its traditional costume exhibition, the former town hall and the town's oldest houses in Mühlenstraße. The Rehna Monastery Association offers guided tours of the monastery complex, guided tours of the town, guided tours of the monastery garden and cycle tours. The monastery garden with its variety of aromatic, medicinal and herbal plants is a magnet for visitors. Guided tours can be arranged at the monastery and town information office. The integrated natural goods store offers natural cosmetics. From Rehna, pilgrimage and hiking trails lead from monastery to monastery to Zarrentin and Ratzeburg on natural country lanes through a hilly yet classic Mecklenburg landscape.
