Refinement of old Rügen fruit varieties into high-quality brandies, mainly in organic quality and production of fruity liqueurs for the highest standards of enjoyment Farm store, original regional, sustainable Refinement of old Rügen fruit varieties into high-quality brandies, in organic quality and production of fruity liqueurs, gin, aquavit, apricot and mint, for the enjoyment of the highest demands Rügen is an ideal location for fruit growing. The many days of sunshine and the climate, which is very beneficial for humans, also pamper the fruit. The cultivation of fruit on Rügen has a very long history. For our brandies, we only use fully ripe, hand-sorted organic dessert fruit from the island of Rügen, mainly single-variety fruit. This is because each fruit has its own varietal characteristics, which can even vary from year to year due to the different climatic conditions. For this reason, all our brandies are labeled and numbered by vintage. The liqueurs are composed from our own distillates with natural ingredients in an elaborate production process. Farm store: Organic fruit brandies and sea buckthorn schnapps, fruity liqueurs, gin, aquavit, fruity apricot, cool mint and honey from Rügen beekeepers.

Arkona bunker and naval command bunker
📍 Putgarten
Dozens of ventilation pipes protrude from the ground in the immediate vicinity of the lighthouses. The history of the bunkers on Cape Arkona is a long one. It begins in 1915 with the construction of the first bunker, but it has not been renovated and is not open to the public for security reasons. The smaller bunker was built by the Wehrmacht and was converted into an office of the 6th Coastal Border Brigade during the GDR era. It is known as the "Arkona bunker". Today it houses documentation on the history of Cape Arkona, from Slavic times to the present day. Admission is free of charge. The larger bunker was built between 1979 and 1986. Starting from a main central corridor with two entrances, there are several independent individual bunkers with a total area of 2,000 square meters. It served as a command post for the 6th Flotilla of the People's Navy and the United Baltic Fleet (VOF) stationed on the bow. The bunkers served as a so-called "protected command post" and were intended to protect against toxic gases and radioactive radiation in the event of war. Today, the second large tube houses a model ship exhibition and old navigation equipment. The facility was decommissioned on the day of German reunification, October 3, 1990.

Asta Nielsen House "Karusel"
📍 Vitte
The Asta Nielsen House in Vitte - one of a total of four houses built by architect Max Taut. In addition to the island's wedding room, the Asta Nielsen House houses an exhibition on the Danish silent film diva Asta Nielsen and the architect Max Taut. The house was built in Vitte in 1922/23 as a summer house for the Berlin family Richard Müller. In 1929, Richard Müller sold the vacation home to the famous Danish actress Asta Nielsen. She often spent several months of the summer here on the island with her daughter and husband. Within a short time, the house became a meeting place for friends and acquaintances of Asta Nielsen, such as Joachim Ringelnatz and his wife, Heinrich George and Gerhart Hauptmann. When the National Socialists seized power in 1933, Asta Nielsen turned her back on Germany and left the house in 1935 (1936), complete with all its contents. During the war years and after until 1961, around 15 families, mostly war refugees, lived in the house one after the other. Most of Asta Nielsen's furnishings disappeared during this time. Only a few pieces of her furniture remained. From 1962, the municipality rented the building to the Ehmer couple, who were teachers. Renovations and alterations became necessary when the building was converted into a year-round residence. The fireplace was replaced by a tiled stove and gas heating was installed in 1995. In 1975, the Asta Nielsen House was placed under a preservation order. In 1989, the municipality acquired the house from the heirs of Asta Nielsen. After the building was vacated in May 2009 and had been empty for years, it was extensively renovated inside and out in 2014/15. Since then, it has housed the wedding room and an exhibition on Max Taut and Asta Nielsen. Admission: € 2.50 per person Guided tour: € 7.00 per person (admission + guided tour) Limited number of persons: 8 OPENING HOURS closed from 30.10.2020

Brunnenaue Stralsund
📍 Stralsund
The Brunnenaue in Stralsund is a small idyllic park with a large fountain. First mentioned in 1630 as a healing spring, the city park of the Biedermeier period is a simple park with play and sports areas. Around 1848, merchant Ernst H. F. Billich expanded it into a park with arbors, new paths and trees. Remains of the original park still exist despite the modernization in the style of the 1970s. Rare tree and shrub species, such as the bald cypress, were planted here and still grow today. The tranquil atmosphere and idyllic landscape make the Brunnenaue a popular recreational area for locals and tourists alike. The fountain in particular, with its large fountain, is a popular meeting place in summer. The many seats surrounding the fountain and numerous park benches along the paths through the park invite you to linger. The fountain bubbles after the chestnut blossom around Easter in spring, summer and fall and then goes into its winter break in October.
Fountain meadow in Sagard
📍 Sagard
The Gesundbrunnen Sagard was once a spa and bathing establishment in Sagard on the island of Rügen. Opened in 1795, the bathing and leisure establishment made Sagard the first bathing resort on Rügen and established a spa business, which operated until around 1830. A small wood near Sagard is called "Brunnenaue". It is a reminder of eleven years of lively spa and bathing life. Pastor Heinrich Christoph von Willich opened Rügen's first spa here in 1795. An area with several springs was laid out as a picturesque park. Paths led along the stream with small waterfalls and past seating areas and arbors. There were play tables and a carousel, swings and seesaws, and you could also try your hand at bowling. Various hot and cold baths were set up in the bathhouse for a medical therapy program. Music and dance events rounded off the visit. Today, little remains of the time between 1794 and 1806, when hundreds of guests came here in the summer for treatment and relaxation. Only the field name "Brunnenaue" has remained. The small wood with the meandering stream still gives a vague idea of this brief era.
Bug near Dranske
📍 Dranske
The westernmost headland of the Wittow peninsula on the island of Rügen is known as the "Bug". The "Bug" begins south of the village of Dranske. The Bug peninsula stretches from Dranske over a distance of 8 km and an area of 500 ha in a south-westerly direction. It is only 55 meters wide at its narrowest point in the northeast, with a maximum width of around 1,500 meters in the southwest. To the west, the Bug joins the Baltic Sea. The northern part of the island of Hiddensee is located in front of it on the Baltic side. The Vitter Bodden borders the Bug to the southwest. To the north-east, the Wieker Bodden and to the south-east the Buger Bodden and the Rassower Strom separate the peninsula from the island of Rügen. The southernmost tip is the Buger Haken. The southern part of the Bug has been part of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park since September 12, 1990. The Bug was a restricted military area for many decades. This allowed nature to develop relatively undisturbed. Guided nature tours of the southern Bug are currently available. Registration takes place via the tourist office in Dranske.
