Railroad station Bergen auf Rügen

With the ICE to the island of Rügen The former Gingster Straße was renamed "Bahnhofstraße" after the construction of Bergen railroad station.

It is the central axis between the city center and the train station as well as the industrial area behind it on Gingster Chaussee. It is characterized by the recessed, villa-like buildings from the early 20th century and the smaller commercial enterprises and retail establishments located in the lower part of the street. It is recorded that the first train arrived at Bergen auf Rügen station at 14:40 on July 1, 1883. The Stralsund - Bergen line was thus opened. The station building is depicted on a postcard from before 1900. It is a listed building and was completely renovated in 2004 at a cost of around 9 million euros.

Bergen train station on Rügen - gateway to Germany's largest island

The Bergen auf Rügen railroad station is not only an important transport hub in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, but also a historic building with a long history. On July 1, 1883 at 2:40 pm, the first train pulled into the station, opening the line between Stralsund and Bergen auf Rügen. Since then, the station has been the most important port of call for travelers coming to the island of Rügen by train.

Listed station building with historical charm

The station building, which is already depicted on postcards from before 1900, is now a listed building. In 2004, it was extensively renovated at a cost of around 9 million euros and has shone in new splendor ever since. Bahnhofstrasse - the former Gingster Strasse - stretches directly in front of the station as the central axis between Bergen's city center and the adjacent industrial area. Villa-like buildings from the early 20th century characterize the cityscape along the street.

Inka's art is repeatedly praised by viewers for the positive, soothing aura that the individual works have. Vibrant colors, lightness and brilliance characterize Inka's paintings. The viewer is immediately drawn into a world of joie de vivre, flowing energy, power and dancing colors. This world of joy invites you to be touched, to be infected by its lightness, to linger in its brilliance. And this is exactly how one visitor described it at the vernissage on March 2 at the Bergen City Museum on Rügen, where the solo show "Inca: Retrospective of Half a Century" runs until May 28, 2024: "I went straight home after the vernissage and did nothing else there but sit quietly on a chair and enjoy these wonderful energies that I had soaked up from your pictures." The fact that Inka's artworks usually have an uplifting effect is partly due to the clear, strong colors. On the other hand, it is also due to the fact that Inka connects herself with positive, healing forces during the painting process and thus impregnates these energies into her works. For Inka, painting is an act of joy, sensuality and gratitude. Inka's works have been shown in 56 exhibitions in Germany, Switzerland and Italy, as well as in the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and at the ARTBOX Project Miami 3.0. At KUNST:OFFEN 2024, Inka is participating in the collective exhibition at St. Spiritus in Greifswald, as well as at the Bergen City Museum. Inka's studio is also open all year round for interested parties by appointment. Please send your request to info@galerie-inka.de
