What once grew as a young tree behind a memorial stone in honor of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck has grown over the decades into an impressive tree that now characterizes this town square.

The young oak tree planted behind this stone has survived the decades and is still a reminder of this historical tradition - a custom that was widespread throughout Germany in the 19th and early 20th centuries, including in other cities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern such as Stralsund and Greifswald.

KG, the operator of the Waldbühne Rügen, has established the open-air stage on the Rugard in Bergen auf Rügen, which can accommodate over 5,000 visitors, as a top address for music, shows and other events since 2020. The stage offers around 4,500 seats and 800 standing places, plus a large VIP lounge with preferential admission, the best stage view, as well as selected drinks and the Waldbühne buffet included.
