Strandoase Treichel at the barrier-free beach access 4 - Warnemünde

Warnemünde is home to one of the most modern barrier-free beach accesses in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Beach access no. 4 (near the lighthouse, at Seestraße 9) offers a closed service chain for guests with limited mobility during the season. The shore of the Baltic Sea and the beach chairs can be reached via the pathway with non-slip slabs. A barrier-free beach chair, a beach wheelchair and a bathing wheelchair can be hired from the beach chair rental service. With the support of an accompanying person, bathing in the Baltic Sea is possible. A barrier-free toilet and parking spaces are available in the immediate vicinity of the beach access.

Beach access 8 and 18 in the Ostseebad Kühlungsborn

The fine sandy beach promises wonderful vacation fun and the promenade, the pier and the lively harbor offer plenty of variety. Great events take place regularly in the east and west concert gardens. Beach accesses 8 and 18 in the Baltic seaside resort of Kühlungsborn are barrier-free. Mats have been laid out at both entrances, making it possible for people with wheelchairs or walkers to use them. This is also a wonderful relief for families with baby carriages. A beach wheelchair can be borrowed free of charge. Both beach access areas are guarded by the DLRG on site. There are no changing rooms on site. In the Kühlungsborn Ost district, the pier invites you to take a trip out onto the water. There is a parking lot for people with disabilities 100 m away. There is also a toilet for people with disabilities within this distance. A Euro key is not necessary.

Störtal Museum Banzkow

Mecklenburg country life - this is presented in many different ways in the Störtal Museum Banzkow with its traditions developed over centuries. It is located in the basement of the Trend Hotel Banzkow. The Störtal Museum was opened on June 5, 2000 on the occasion of Banzkow's 700th anniversary and is affiliated with the socio-cultural center "Störtal e.V. Banzkow". The museum is run by the association's very active museum group. The Störtal Museum takes you on a journey into the past over 300 square meters. Under the motto "Living, working and life in the countryside", Banzkow and life in the surrounding area is presented in an exciting and varied way. There are not only exhibits from Banzkow, the Lewitz and the surrounding area, but also from other regions. The museum also houses a "corner store with pub", named after the Banzkow merchant Max Block (1898-1954). It is run by the Trend Hotel and invites guests to celebrate with family and friends. Since summer 2009, the diorama model "Banzkow around 1900" has aroused the special interest of visitors. Opening hours Sunday 14.00 - 17.00 hrs. Surfspot Altefähr

On the Strelasund you can surf in south-easterly to westerly winds with a view of the skyline of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund and the impressive Rügen Bridge. You have plenty of space to set up on the lawn. The Altefähr spot is located in the immediate vicinity of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund. The direct view of the impressive Rügen Bridge and the historic old town create a very special flair. Located directly on the banks of the Strelasund, Altefähr is not only a popular local recreation area for Stralsund residents, but also a beautiful surfing spot with a good standing area and even a surf school on site. However, unlike windsurfing, kitesurfing is not permitted here in the summer months according to the beach regulations. Due to the somewhat sheltered location of the spot, there are sometimes gusty winds due to wind cover. The waves can also get quite choppy outside the standing area. The preferred wind direction for this spot is west to northwest, when the wind blows unhindered across the Bodden. The water's edge at the entrance is secured by wooden piers, which is why there is unfortunately no real beach. However, the grassy area offers you plenty of space to set up. Surfspot Baabe

Baabe is a top location with easterly wind directions. The waves break cleanly on the sandbank and run onto the beach with a moderate shorebreak. In high season, you are not allowed to go on the water in the bathing zone marked with buoys. The state-approved seaside resort of Baabe is located on the Mönchgut peninsula on the south-east coast of Rügen. With its long and fine sandy beach, the spot offers the best conditions for a relaxing Baltic Sea vacation. In the summer months, the beach can get quite crowded, so that kiting in particular is only safe in the evening hours. When the wind blows from the east, Baabe develops into a good wave spot and the waves break about 100 meters from the beach due to the sandbanks in front of it. Due to the relatively shallow shore, however, the shore break is limited, which is why wave beginners also get their money's worth in Baabe. There is a surf school right by the spot, which also offers a variety of leisure activities on less windy days. The spot is suitable for wind directions from N to SE. Surfspot Dierhagen

Dierhagen is a first-class wave spot from west to northeast. As there are no groynes here, even beginners can venture into the Baltic Sea waves. Dierhagen lies between the Saaler Bodden and the Baltic Sea at the entrance to the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. Unfortunately, kiting is not permitted on the Bodden side. On the seaward side, kiters are also allowed on the water in a 200-metre section between access points 23 and 24. At beach access 17, you will find a small surf school that offers courses for windsurfing and stand-up paddling, among other things. You can also hire equipment on site. On the water, you have a clear path in all directions, as there are no groynes here. However, you should pay particular attention to bathers in summer. It is advisable to keep a sufficient distance from the beach. A little tip for the winter: Ice sailing on the Saaler Bodden is a tradition in Dierhagen. Surfspot Groß Schwansee

Only a few bathers stray to Groß Schwansee. That's why, in north-westerly winds, you can sail undisturbed along the long natural beach parallel to the shore. The village of Groß Schwansee is about half a kilometer from the Bay of Lübeck. Directly between Travemünde and Boltenhagen. In contrast to the two Baltic seaside resorts, it is a small, quiet and idyllic village that offers a wide range of accommodation for nature-loving Baltic Sea vacationers. The almost untouched beach offers plenty of space for various sporting activities. Kiters and windsurfers get their money's worth here and can ride the long beach parallel to the shore undisturbed in north-westerly wind directions. Those arriving by van or camper van can even spend the night in the nearby parking lot for a small fee. The spot is suitable for wind directions from SW to NE. Surfspot Heiligendamm

White villas and blue sea - in Germany's oldest Baltic seaside resort, you can surf against an intoxicating backdrop. The view is particularly relaxing with sideshore winds from the west and east-northeast. World-famous, yet quiet and tranquil. Heiligendamm is Germany's oldest Baltic seaside resort. For over 200 years, bathers have enjoyed the unique flair of the "White Town by the Sea", as Heiligendamm is also known. On the water, you have a great view of the impressive buildings. This spot is also easy to get to from the car. Less than 50 meters and once over the dyke and you're on the beach. But be careful in the water. Groynes are rammed into the water at regular intervals for coastal protection. There is a surfing school on site for beginners. You can learn to kitesurf and windsurf there or hire a SUP board on windless days. The spot is suitable for wind directions from W to NE. Surfspot Hiddensee

The car-free island of Hiddensee is an adventure playground for wave lovers, especially when the wind blows from southwest to north. In front of the natural beach, the waves are almost big by Baltic Sea standards - in strong north-westerly winds, the green rollers build up to three meters. The beautiful island of Hiddensee lies a long way off the west coast of Rügen. It takes about an hour to get to the island by ferry or a little quicker by water cab, preferably from Stralsund or Schaprode. Once you arrive on Hiddensee, you will find one thing above all: peace and quiet. Only a few cars, e.g. from the rescue service and the fire department, are allowed. This poses a problem: how do you transport your equipment? However, there is a good alternative for those who don't want to lug their gear around. The surf school in Vitte, located directly between the Bodden and the open Baltic Sea, opposite the old mill, rents out everything your heart desires. Advanced windsurfers and kitesurfers will get their money's worth in the north-westerly winds on the Baltic Sea side. On stormy days, waves of over 3 meters can build up there. The spot is not recommended for kitesurfing beginners due to the groynes and shallow depth. Hiddensee is definitely worth a visit as a special surfing vacation destination, where families and nature-loving water sports enthusiasts in particular can find peace and quiet away from the crowds. Kamminke surf spot

With the finest location in southerly winds and a camper van parking area directly at the spot, Kamminke makes surfers' hearts beat faster. Kamminke is one of the oldest fishing villages on Usedom. The municipality in the eastern part of the island is located in the Achterland, directly on the northern shore of the Szczecin Lagoon. Not far from the German-Polish border, the thatched houses and the steep coastline give the village its special flair. You can even park your motorhome right by the water. In contrast to the Baltic Sea beach, the beach is not as extensive, but still very inviting. In the summer months, special consideration should therefore be given to bathers and possibly other water sports enthusiasts. In any case, you should speak to the local mobile surf school before you go out on the water. Otherwise, the spot is suitable for both beginners and pros with wind directions from SE to W. Surfspot Kreptitz

Windsurfers are among themselves here. Kitesurfing is prohibited. The waves break very cleanly on the offshore sandbanks and can easily reach three meters high on strong wind days. You'll have the most fun with sideshore from the west-southwest. The standing area is narrow. Rocks lurk everywhere under the surface of the water. Therefore: experts only! Kreptitz is located on the north-west coast of Rügen in the middle of a small nature reserve. Alongside Mukran, it is probably the best-known wave spot on Rügen. The highest waves break here in north-westerly wind directions on an offshore sandbank. As the landscape in this region of Rügen is dominated by steep cliffs, access to the spot is not exactly easy. You can only reach the beach with your equipment via a narrow and steep steel staircase. We therefore recommend using the small meadow above the cliffs to rig up, especially on stormy days. The shore break here is heavy, the standing area is very small and there are a few rocks under the water surface. The spot is therefore only recommended for absolute professionals, as others will get washed out here. Unfortunately, kitesurfing is not permitted in Kreptitz due to nature conservation regulations. Surfspot Kägsdorf

Kägsdorf is best suited for surfing in the southwest. Then the wind blows sideshore and brings a decent wave with wind forces of around 5 Beaufort. As it is quite chaotic close to the shore, the spot is only suitable for beginners to a limited extent. Surfmobiles can be parked in the large parking lot just behind the dune. The small, dreamy village of Kägsdorf is located between the two large Baltic Sea resorts of Kühlungsborn and Rerik. The somewhat remote spot with its idyllic Baltic Sea beach and good parking facilities directly on site has long been a well-known and excellent surfing area. When the wind blows from the southwest, the waves break on an offshore sandbank and put a smile on the faces of kiters and windsurfers. As the conditions in Kägsdorf are not easy and the shore break is quite violent, the spot is only suitable for beginners to a limited extent. One highlight is the annual Zuparken Festival, which attracts up to 1,000 visitors on a weekend with its varied surfing program. The spot is suitable for wind directions from SW to N. Kühlungsborn surf spot

With strong winds from the west to northeast, Kühlungsborn's powerful waves challenge you to test your strength. So that you don't get in the way of the numerous sun worshippers in summer, there is a special sports beach in front of the Anglersteig. Kühlungsborn is another beautiful spot to put your board in the water. With a population of almost 7,000, Kühlungsborn is one of the largest Baltic seaside resorts. Accordingly, it is also a great place to end the day after a session. The town also offers a host of other leisure activities, such as a climbing forest, a mini leisure park and an indoor swimming pool. Kühlungsborn attracts many tourists and bathers, especially in summer. During this time, in contrast to the rest of the year, kitesurfing is only permitted in a small area directly in front of the fishing pier. When it gets a little more manageable in the low season, there are sometimes powerful waves to conquer in westerly to easterly wind directions. Be careful with the groynes in the water. These can be found almost across the entire width of the beach in Kühlungsborn. The spot is suitable for wind directions from W to NE. Surfspot Ludwigsburg

With southerly and south-westerly winds, Ludwigsburg is the first choice in the immediate vicinity of Greifswald - and also the only one. The spot compensates for the somewhat gusty wind with a large standing area and plenty of space to set up. The small village of Ludwigsburg is located on the Dänische Wiek, a small offshoot of the Greifswald Bodden. The spot itself is somewhat remote from the Hanseatic town of Greifswald. Nevertheless, it is very easy to reach and there are plenty of parking spaces here. With winds often blowing from the south to south-west, this is one of the few opportunities to get out on the water in the area. Unfortunately, as the wind comes from the mainland, it can often be a little gusty. But if that doesn't bother you, you will find a sufficiently large and good standing area at the spot. On land, you should watch out for small thistles or thorns in some places. This is because they have already killed a sail or two. The spot is suitable for wind directions from S to NW. Surfspot Peenemünde

The locals on Usedom particularly appreciate Peenemünde, especially when the wind blows from north to south-east. Unlike most of the island's Baltic Sea spots, you only have to share the beach with a few bathers. The standing area is 120 meters wide and therefore perfect for anyone venturing into the waves for the first time. Peenemünde is located on the northern part of the island of Usedom at the mouth of the Peene River into the Baltic Sea. This town has a lot to offer in terms of history, which is why there are a whole range of interesting museums here that are always worth a visit away from the water sports. The spot itself is located just outside the town in the direction of Karlshagen. Locals in particular appreciate it, as it is rarely overrun by tourists. Both beginners and advanced surfers will find the best conditions here to let off steam in the Baltic Sea. You can get out on the water here in a stiff north-easterly to easterly wind, which creates large waves of around 2 meters. The numerous offshore sandbanks also have the advantage that hardly any waves build up near the shore. This makes this beach an ideal training ground for your first wave experiences. Surfspot Rambin

Due to nature conservation regulations, only windsurfers are allowed to enjoy the fantastic flat water and gigantic standing area here. This sport is recommended in wind directions between west and northwest. The Rambin spot is located around twelve kilometers north-east of Stralsund. In contrast to the village of Rambin, through which a busy main road runs, the spot is in a quiet location in the middle of a nature reserve on the Kupitz Bodden. You won't find a white, fine sandy Baltic Sea beach like those found elsewhere on Rügen here. You won't miss it either, as you will find the best shallow water conditions and a huge standing area in a quiet rural setting. Beginners and freestylers are therefore offered excellent conditions to improve their skills. Similar to Scharprode, only windsurfing is permitted at the Rambin spot due to nature conservation, but not kitesurfing. The spot is suitable for wind directions from W to NW. Surfspot Stuthof

On the eastern shore of the Breitling, you will find a small but fine standing area and a water sports school when the wind blows from southwest to northwest. And it's only a 20-minute drive from Rostock. The spot is located on the eastern bank of the Breitling, a small bay at the mouth of the Warnow. Close to the small village of Stuthof, which still belongs to Rostock, you are largely cut off from the hustle and bustle of the city. However, if you do get bored, a passenger boat runs from here from May to September, taking you across to the other bank of the Warnow. There is a surf school on site, next to the traditional inn, which can teach anyone interested not only windsurfing but also sailing and stand-up paddling. Thanks to the sufficiently large standing area and the interesting view of Warnemünde, this spot is definitely worth a visit. Kitesurfers are also welcome here, but should keep a safe distance from the surf school. The spot is suitable for wind directions from SW to NW. Surfspot Ueckermünde (Szczecin Lagoon)

This shallow-water spot with its wide standing area is still a real insider tip. Optimal conditions prevail with north-west to south-east winds. Surfing is prohibited here from May 15 to September 15. Then you can head to Bellin, just five kilometers away. Ueckermünde is a small, tranquil harbor town on the southern shore of the Szczecin Lagoon. This region is still largely unknown in the surfing scene, so the spot can definitely be considered an insider tip. The lavishly and lovingly renovated seaside resort is the youngest in Germany and is characterized in particular by its good infrastructure and family friendliness. You can park directly at the main entrance. From there, it is only a few meters to the water. Those arriving with a camper van or motorhome also have the option of staying overnight in the parking lot near the beach. There is a restaurant and various snack options for quick refreshments right on site. Unfortunately, surfing is not permitted in Ueckermünde during the summer season between May 15 and September 15. You should then head to the "Zimmerplatz" beach in Bellin, three kilometers away. The spot is suitable for wind directions from NW to SE. Surfspot Untergöhren (Fleesensee)

The 210 meter wide standing area makes the southern shore of Lake Fleesensee an ideal windsurfing spot in south-westerly to northerly winds. Kiting is permitted in the specially created kite zone, but is only recommended for experts due to the many obstacles on land. The Fleesensee is located in the heart of the Mecklenburg Lake District and is part of the Müritz-Elde waterway. As a result, there is a lot of hustle and bustle on the water here and holidaymakers can be found almost everywhere, from pedal boats and houseboats to excursion boats. Thanks to its central location, the town is not only ideal for surfing but also as a starting point for water hikes in a canoe, kayak or with a SUP. The local water sports school offers the best conditions for this with its wide range of activities. A special feature is the special zone for kitesurfers, as kitesurfing is generally prohibited on federal waterways and is otherwise only permitted in Boek an der Müritz. However, inexperienced kitesurfers should not get out on the water here, as the spot is quite challenging despite the large standing area and is not recommended for beginners.
