Fish bite farmer

Fish bite farmer

📍 Bodstedt

Smoked and fresh fish, fish sandwiches Fischerei Bauer is a popular address in Bodstedt, known for its fresh fish and fish sandwiches. You can't miss the fishery opposite Botstedt harbor. Fischer Bauer himself no longer goes out fishing, so today the stretched nets are evidence of past working tools at the fishing yard. Nevertheless, it is impressive how large and fine the fish traps are. Every Friday, fish is served fresh from the smoke. Guests stock up and enjoy taking eel, smoked salmon, halibut or mackerel fillets home with them as a tasty vacation souvenir. Crisp, fresh and tasty fish sandwiches are often eaten here with matjes, Bismarck herring or fried fish. It's a pleasure to enjoy it straight from your hand with a view of the hustle and bustle in the harbor and on the Bodden. Ahoy at Fisch-Bauer at Bodstedt harbor.

Dändorf History House

Dändorf History House

📍 Dierhagen

Inaugurated in fall 2014, the Dändorf History House delights visitors with exhibitions on the history of the historic North Mecklenburg Salt Road between Sülze and Wismar, which also ran through Dändorf, as well as photographs and postcards from the Baltic seaside resort in the 1960s, taken by the well-known photographer Annemarie Giegold-Schilling (Annemarie Dorn) from Halle. A new exhibition is intended to remind visitors of the importance of sailing and steam shipping for Dändorf and Dierhagen, and in particular of the local captains. The history house in the Dändorf district is located in the immediate vicinity of the historic Salzstraße, today's Dorfstraße. This made the former fire station of the Dändorf fire department the ideal location for the history house. In the 18th century, the historic salt road led from Bad Sülze via the Boddenhafen in Dändorf to Wismar and Schwerin. Dändorf benefited from its function as a salt transshipment point and was given a paved village street early on so that the salt transports from the port did not get stuck in bad weather. This street is still preserved today and can be admired as a historical monument alongside the beautiful old captain's houses in the village. The history house in the Dierhagen district of Dändorf is open to visitors daily from May to October from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Zingst local history museum with museum courtyard

Zingst local history museum with museum courtyard

📍 Seeheilbad Zingst

An old captain's house and a transparent extension - the Zingster Museum is a modern place to experience history. Clearly laid out and charming, it tells the story of the lives of the local coastal inhabitants: how clipper ships became circumnavigators, how a cradle saved lives and how the Baltic Sea waves song really came about. At the same time, the house offers art experiences in changing exhibitions in a small gallery and in the outdoor area. Maritime literature is available in a small library and there is a museum quiz for schoolchildren. There are also guided tours and lecture evenings in a feel-good atmosphere. The museum courtyard is often a hive of activity from Easter to Advent. In summer, the music pavilion becomes a concert stage, and every Thursday (Easter to October), traders offer regional products. The organic food store on the farm sells "Gaude Kost" almost every day. The Müller bakery produces specialties such as Zingster Urbrot. It is also tempting to have breakfast on the terrace on a sunny morning or enjoy coffee and cake in the "Alt Zingst" café. Visitors can create their own souvenirs with beach finds and other materials in the Pommernstube, where courses and workshops are also held. The museum barn serves as an event venue and registry office and is sometimes transformed into a workshop for young and old alike. Old gravestones and "Darß doors" from Zingst lean against its gables. Vegetables, herbs and flowers grow in the farm garden behind the barn. Old farming tools are reminiscent of times when farming was still small-scale and worked without high-tech. The Zingst museum farm has a lot to offer. Visitors can tour it and the museum free of charge.

Finest natural soaps in an unmistakable design I have been producing the finest natural soaps with passion and care in my small manufactory in idyllic Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for many years. Naturalness and aesthetics are particularly important to me - my aim is therefore not only to pamper the skin and fragrance, but also to please the eye with an appealing design. With a few marked exceptions, I only use plant-based, mineral and food-safe raw materials. Wherever possible, I use essential oils. All my products are of course free from palm oil, and the packaging is made of paper and reduced to the bare essentials. Each bar of soap is lovingly handcrafted, goes through each production step manually and is made in small batches. This is why you can only buy my soaps directly from me at artisan markets or in the online store.

They also make a brief stopover in spring, especially in March. During the day, they can be found in harvested maize fields, where they feed on the energy reserves they need for their onward flight. As the cranes are fed in the neighboring fields of the Kranorama, it is very likely to see them there. Please take care not to disturb the cranes during your visit, as undisturbed stopovers with extensive feeding are vital for the survival of these large birds. It is therefore best to wear muted colors and move quietly. From April, the Kranorama takes a summer break. It reopens in the fall when the cranes are resting. Salmon & fine smokehouse

Salmon & fine smokehouse

📍 Saal / OT Hessenburg

The special feature of our smoked salmon, however, lies in the traditional preparation and careful hand processing. "Lachsreiner" is a small company from the Baltic Sea coast, based in Hessenburg and deals with various forms of salmon refinement in different flavors and processing methods. Only high-quality and constantly monitored raw materials are used for this. We source our salmon from various regions around the world. While some come from wild catches in the Baltic Sea and the Atlantic, the majority come from near-natural aquacultures, particularly in Scotland, Ireland and the coasts of Chile, where the fish are sometimes reared in wild water. These conditions ensure the fine marbling, the compact cut, the outstanding tenderness of the meat and a high proportion of muscle mass with a low fat content. The special feature of our smoked salmon, however, lies in the traditional preparation and careful hand processing. Each individual stage of refinement is carried out by hand. The fillets are seasoned in several stages according to traditional methods, with successive maturing and resting phases lasting several days. We use a gentle cold-smoking process for smoking, which is carried out in special oak ovens. Depending on the weather conditions, this process takes 35 to over 50 hours, alternating between smoking and resting phases. We only use pure wood chips from natural wood. The result of this careful processing of the best raw materials is a smoked salmon of the highest quality with a perfect taste and appearance. You can buy the smoked salmon online and at regional markets. At KRANICH Café Hessenburg, smoked salmon is on the small, fine menu. The smoked salmon can also be bought freshly vacuum-packed there.

Originally built as a railroad bridge for the Darßbahn, it was used for road traffic after the Second World War and developed into the region's central traffic artery. A rail connection is also planned for the replacement construction.
