Products from the Demeter-certified Zandershagen farm, such as fresh vegetables and other organic products of the highest quality. Eggs and honey sourced directly from the surrounding area. Delicacies from Neuenrost (jams and spreads) and many other regional specialties round out our selection. Tomatoes from Barth, salt from Trinwillershagen, juices from Elmenhorst, regional eggs and potatoes, some from the Walden Farm, and in the future also mustard from Schlemmin. Popsicles… AND we offer ready-made breakfast plates: All you have to do is spread the butter on the bread or rolls yourself—everything else is already prepared. You can enjoy this plate at home, at your vacation rental, or in the village store—and when the weather is nice, you’re welcome to sit outside in the seating area, which is shaded by a pavilion. Drechslerei Rose in Eggesin manufactures high quality turned parts from wood for staircase construction, interior fittings or furniture making to order. High-quality handicrafts, mostly made from local wood or required for restoration, have been traditionally turned by hand for over 30 years. The woodturning craft has been recognized throughout Germany as intangible cultural heritage since the end of 2018. Master woodturner Karina Ihlenburg has been cultivating this beautiful, old craft in the blueberry town of Eggesin for over 30 years with a great deal of love and skill. The Rose woodturning workshop, which has been in existence since the late 1970s, mainly manufactures products for staircase builders, joineries and high-quality interior fittings. Whether series or individual pieces, customers from all over Germany order from the master workshop. The arts and crafts sector and thus traditional production on the wood lathe is not neglected either. In addition to bowls in all shapes and sizes, the salesroom at the workshop in Heidestraße also sells wool pots, crochet hooks, nutcrackers, bottle tops, writing utensils, mortars, tins and, above all, the much-loved decorative apples and pears. Anyone who values high-quality local products is well advised here. Two regular events throughout the year are worth mentioning: One is the sales exhibition as part of KUNST:OFFEN on the Whitsun weekend. This takes place in the tranquil village of Hintersee in the gallery in the barn. It is open from 10:00 to 18:00. In addition to the products from the master workshop, a farm café with homemade cakes, bread, tea and coffee will be open on all three days. A tombola invites you to take part. The second is a small Advent market with an open day organized by the Rose woodturning workshop in Eggesin. You are cordially invited to visit the workshop on the Saturday before the third Advent from 13:00 to 17:00.

Swing bridge island town Malchow

The approximately 15-metre-long new building is a landmark of the town and opens every hour on the hour to allow ships sailing on the Müritz-Elde waterway to pass through. Around 20,000 boats or ships pass through this narrowest point between Lake Plau and Müritz every year. The landmark is also a pivotal point on land: it connects the historic island of Malchow with the mainland. The moving story: In order to ensure a further connection to the mainland in addition to the earth dam, a lift bridge was initially erected, which had to make way for a manual, wooden swing bridge in 1863. Due to increased traffic during industrialization, this model was also replaced by a steel structure in December 1912. After more than 30 years, this bridge was destroyed in the Second World War and not rebuilt until 1948/49. During this time, traffic was carried by ferry. The bridge, which was powered by an electric motor for the first time, continued to fall apart until 1980. After ten years of closure due to severe damage, a functional swing bridge was reopened on December 12, 1990. In September 2012, work began on the complete renovation of the swing bridge and foundations. After almost a year of construction, the project was completed in 2013. In 2014, the new swing bridge was awarded the public prize and a commendation for the 2014 State Construction Prize.

Swing Bridge at Schwerin Castle

Since 1897, a swing bridge has connected the castle island with the Schwerin Castle Gardens. It allowed cargo ships to enter the Burgsee. The rotating mechanism is demonstrated in action on special occasions, such as the Schwerin Castle Festival in June or the “Days of Industrial Culture on the Water” in September. Today, the bridge is usually seen in its closed position. Pedestrians and cyclists use it to cross from the Palace Island to the palace park. It features an ornate iron railing. The initials of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz (FF) can be found on the piers. The bridge’s ingenious mechanism made it possible for a single attendant to open and close the 22-meter-long bridge girder—which weighs several metric tons—using just a hand crank. The bridge girder rests in a stationary bearing. To rotate it, it is lifted onto the actual pivot bearing (the so-called “King’s Seat”) and then rotated on this bearing. Since the Burgsee is closed to boat traffic, the bridge is usually closed. On special occasions, such as the Castle Festival or the Days of Industrial Culture on the Water, the rotating mechanism is demonstrated in action. The bridge was manufactured at the F. Crull & Co. machine factory, a company owned by the Wismar entrepreneur Heinrich Podeus.

Together, the barges can be paddled through the rustic jungle atmosphere of the Mildenitz. Exciting challenges such as narrow river bends and obstacles are mastered as a team. An adventure for every group. With delicacies from the barbecue or cake buffet, you can have a good time together on the water. We have a suitable barge for every group size to experience the Mildenitz jungle together. The large jungle boat can accommodate groups of up to 60 people, 40 can paddle at the same time. It is an adventure for every team to move the barge on the rustic waters and master exciting challenges such as tree obstacles and narrow river bends. The boat is approx. 14 meters long and 2.6 meters wide. An experienced helmsman, who also knows the obstacles under water, is always on board and supports the team for safety. Sufficient life jackets are available for children and adults. A canopy can provide protection in case of rain. Parents can also enjoy a relaxed paddling experience without worrying about their children. Even the little ones become proud captains. The smaller boats offer space for up to 5 / 10 / 15 / 18 adventurers. Everyone is rewarded by the shared experience of the jungle atmosphere on the Mildenitz. With delicacies from the barbecue or cake buffet, you can have a good time together on the water.

A place to learn and linger! The Papendorf Fragrance and Touch Garden invites you into the world of medicinal, aromatic, fragrant and poisonous plants. The garden is divided into specific themed beds, lovingly and naturally designed. The 5,000 m² garden of the Mirabell e. V. association is nestled in a hollow on the edge of the village. More than 300 different medicinal, aromatic and spice plants as well as vegetables, shrubs, berry bushes and flowers can be found here. You can discover the plants with all your senses, and individual plant parts and fruits can also be picked and tasted. Feel the different shapes and surfaces, experience the fruity scent of clary sage or the lovely aroma of the small fiery red flowers of the monard! When you gently rub the leaves of the Turkish dragon's head, essential oils give off an intense lemon scent. Let yourself be inspired by the great diversity of natural aromas. Old, rare vegetables and cereals are also grown in the garden. An extensive barefoot path invites young and old to play. A walk through the Pomeranian labyrinth is an opportunity to calm down and connect with yourself and this ancient symbol. The lower part of the garden is barrier-free and suitable for wheelchair users. The plants are also signposted in Braille. The garden is open at all times. There is also a kiosk and café in front. The e-bike charging station is located in the summer months (approx. May-September) directly next to the DLRG watchtower on the beach of Zierow, in the winter months (approx. October-April) at the Tourist Information and Community Center Zierow. This charging station allows you to park your e-bike neatly and charge it using the sockets integrated into the bike stand. E-bike riders simply need to plug in their charger. The electricity at the charging station is provided free of charge by the municipality of Zierow for all e-bike riders. While their bike is being charged, e-bike riders can take a break on the beach, enjoy a dip in the Baltic Sea, take a walk through the beautiful countryside in and around Zierow or enjoy a snack before continuing their journey.

Edvard Munch House Warnemünde

The Edvard Munch House is an old Warnemünde fisherman's house named after the Norwegian expressionist Edvard Munch, who lived in this house at Am Strom 53 in 1907/08 and spent an intensive creative period there. The Edvard Munch House is one of the few surviving fishermen's houses in Warnemünde whose age can be traced back to the 17th century. Around 1906, the pilot Carl Nielsen was the owner of the house at Am Strom 53, and the boatman Albert Nielsen and his widow Catharina Holtz lived with him in the modest home. In 1918, the fisherman Albert Harms bought the house and lived there with his wife and daughter Liselotte for the rest of his life. Liselotte Zander, née Harms, remained loyal to the house for the rest of her life. The last owner of the house died in 1990 at the age of 79. The Edvard Munch House is still on its historic floor plan today. The original layout of the rooms is still recognizable after the extensive restoration between 1995 and 1997. Today, in addition to an exhibition space, the house also houses two studios and apartments for artists.

Ehm Welk House

The Literaturhaus is the former home of the writer Ehm Welk. The writer Ehm Welk lived in this house from 1950 until his death in 1966. It was here that he wrote a number of important works, such as "Mutafo" and "Im Morgennebel." The house has been open to the public since 1979. Several small exhibition areas are dedicated to the author’s life and work. The diverse range of events—from author readings, musical-literary programs, and cabaret evenings to concerts and exhibitions—enriches the cultural life of the city of Bad Doberan and the surrounding region.
