The Mecklenburg Lake District is one of Germany’s most popular canoeing destinations. The Granzow Canoe Center is surrounded by vast forests and meadows and is located right on the lake, with a swimming beach. In addition to tours and boats, it also offers accommodations at the “Sommerhof.” Granzow is an ideal starting point for excursions to the Müritz National Park, day trips to Lake Müritz, and multi-day canoe trips across the Lake District. For example, there are combined tours featuring bicycles and passenger boats. Guided tours can also be booked, such as those heading toward the Müritz National Park. The “Nature Study Canoe Tour,” which departs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in July, is particularly popular. The natural camping area with a swimming beach and a beach volleyball court is located right on the lake. In addition to basic facilities (laundry rooms with hot water, showers, restrooms, and a sink with hot water), the Granzow Canoe Station also offers a group kitchen for rent. On the grounds, there is a large wooden shelter for inclement weather with tables and benches available for free use. The campsite is not accessible by car. Loading and unloading areas are available directly at the campsite. A fenced parking lot is located 200 m away. Benches, tables, and grills can be borrowed free of charge. Safe beginner boats for adults and children, touring kayaks, group canoes, polo and whitewater boats, as well as pedal and rowing boats are available for rent. Canoe courses teach the basics of paddling and steering techniques. The formation of the lake landscape and the significance of the Müritz National Park are among the topics covered on this trip, as is environmentally responsible behavior while paddling. The tour in large, stable team boats lasts approximately four hours, including a break on land. The day trips departing from Granzow take place weekly, provided there are enough participants. Registration is required by 7:00 p.m. the evening before each trip. The bike rental service offers all-terrain bikes, go-karts, children’s bikes, and child seats. Blankenförde Church

Churches in the Region - Discover small village churches or large, restored structures from the era of the Knights of St. John. You can feel the powerful aura of these ancient buildings, and for a moment, time seems to stand still. - The half-timbered church in Blankenförde - The half-timbered church in Blankenförde-Kakeldütt... In 1702, a new half-timbered church was built after the church on the outskirts of the village had burned down completely. On the southern long wall of the church is an ornate portal carved from oak. The altar, crafted in the Flemish Baroque style, is decorated in white and gold, as is the pulpit. Also worth seeing is the oil painting to the right of the altar, which was formerly the centerpiece of a 16th-century altar. The names of the donors from that time are immortalized on the church’s colorful stained-glass windows, as well as on the pewter candlesticks, the pewter baptismal font, and the communion chalice.Blankenförde-Kakeldütt Traces of Mesolithic settlements indicate very early habitation in the area around Blankenförde. Blankenförde itself was first mentioned in 1256 as “Blankenvort.” Judging by the name, it was an early Germanic settlement. It is reasonable to interpret “Blankenvort” as “place at a white / clear ford.” The name of the village Kakeldütt, first mentioned in a document in 1342, also refers to its proximity to water. However, in this case, the root of the word lies in the Old Slavic “hoholu,” which means “whirlpool” or “eddy” and points to a Slavic settlement. Both places have always been farming villages. Blankenförde came into the possession of the Dargun Monastery in 1256 and was purchased by the Mirow Commandery of the Order of St. John in 1359. After the secularization of the commandery, it became part of the Mirow district. Kakeldütt was donated to the Knights of St. John in Mirow in 1342 by Princes Nicolaus III and Bernhard von Werle.

Drosedow church - located directly on the Mecklenburg Lake District pilgrimage route The church in Drosedow dates back to 1882 and is a neo-Gothic brick building. Above the entrance to the church is a tower-like structure in which the bell hangs. The interior of the church is in the neo-Gothic style. The altar in this church also has an altar screen. The pulpit and the gallery are rather plain - there is no organ here.
Jürgenstorf church

The Jürgenstorf church is clearly visible from all roads leading into the parish and cannot be missed. The Gothic church in Jürgenstorf was built in the 14th century. After the 30-year war, only part of the tower remained. The church was rebuilt around 1700 and restored in 2006. The church is a rectangular half-timbered building with a west tower and mono-pitched roof. Inside the church is a vestibule containing the former patron's lodge. Today, this part is used as a winter church. The altar and the altarpiece depicting the crucifixion of Jesus are particularly impressive. The two wings show the apostles. The construction of the altar shrine, which is rather unusual for Mecklenburg, and the box wings suggest that it was created in the Oberbruch region (Frankfurt/Oder). On the left is the pulpit from the early 18th century. The four evangelists are immortalized on the pulpit. In the bell tower, which can be reached via a separate staircase, there are two medieval bells. The parish cemetery is also located on the church grounds. Here you will find the resting place of the former estate manager J.F. Schecker, who served the Low German writer Fritz Reuter as a model for his famous novel character "Unkel Bräsig". Leussow church

Churches in the region - Experience small village churches or large, restored buildings from the time of the Knights of St. John. You can feel the powerful aura of these old buildings and for a moment, time stands still. -The church in Leussow Leussow was first transferred to the Mirower Johanniter as a church fief in 1301. The church in Leussow is one of the few neo-Romanesque brick churches built in the 19th century or early 20th century. It was built between 1868 and 1870. The round-arched windows are striking, as in the church in Feldberg/Mecklenburg. Similar to the church in Babke, the church tower was partially placed in front of the nave and has four sundials. Only the entrance portal was moved further forward. The tower has a slate roof and bears a cross. The tower has the shape of a small bishop's mitre with its four triangles pointing upwards. There are two bells. You can take a look inside the church in summer.
Priepert Church

The Priepert Church is one of the many churches along the “Mecklenburg Lake District” pilgrimage route. The churchyard features impressive mulberry trees, and inside the building, an altar, a baptismal angel, and a harmonium await interested visitors. The half-timbered church building dates back to 1719. The layout of the church grounds and the church’s architecture itself show Central German influences. The floor plan is roughly square with a half-dodecagonal choir attached. The altarpiece and the angel leaning protectively over the baptismal font are definitely worth seeing. You can also admire a harmonium here, and a small book bazaar invites you to explore. As part of the “Hour of Music” event series, wonderful concerts take place in the church every Friday in July and August. Also during the summer, puppet shows for the whole family are held every Thursday evening in the church garden, beneath impressive mulberry trees.
Rambow Church

The present-day village church replaces the church at Domherrenhagen (abandoned in 1458) and was built beginning in 1485. Today, the “Rambow Church Association” is responsible for the church’s preservation. Initially, it likely had only a wooden bell tower. However, the building was expanded around 1590 by Dietrich Moltzan and in 1625–32 by his son, Berendt Ludolf Moltzan. The oak coats of arms of the latter and his wife, Anna von Staffhorst, are located on the east gable. To the west of the rectangular fieldstone building stands a narrow tower (1590) that once bore a very tall spire (31 m). For some time now, it has had only a temporary pyramid-shaped roof. Renaissance architectural ornamentation can be seen on the east gable (1632). The once richly gilded, three-part altarpiece features panel paintings on the front based on designs by Albrecht Dürer, depicting the Nativity, Passion, Resurrection, and Ascension of Christ. On the reverse side are paintings from the previous altar. The pulpit and the patron’s gallery also bear the coats of arms of the von Moltzan and von Bülow families. The pulpit, the altar, and the confessional date from 1590; the rest of the furnishings date from the last renovation in 1865. On the inner south wall is a coat-of-arms epitaph featuring a knight’s armor. Both elements refer to the Swedish General Carl Didriksson Ruuth. Among other things, he was a famous commander in Halberstadt, Landsberg/Warthe, and Stettin, and at the time of his death, he was the commander of Elbing. After the Thirty Years’ War, he came to Ulrichshusen in 1649–50; he was also the church’s patron and is buried here. In 1649, Ruuth also donated a tower clock with an hour bell. After 1822, it ended up in Penzlin under circumstances that are not entirely clear. After 20 years of negotiations, it was brought back to Rambow in exchange for another small bell. Since 2011, it has been ringing here every half hour. The inscription reads: “Every hour, one step closer, death creeps up, O Lord.” The church has had an organ only since 2011. It was built in 1933 by the long-established Danish firm Marcusson, whose instruments can also be heard in the cathedrals of Lübeck and Lund. Until 2011, it was located in Mannheim.
