Steam ferry museum - single-railway steam ferry
● Wolgast

Today, the ferry is in its last place of operation as a museum ship in Wolgast harbor and can be visited. The single-railway steam ferry "Stralsund" from 1890 is the only surviving ship of its kind in Germany. Originally built for the ferry service between Stralsund and Altefähr on Rügen, it was used in Swinemünde from 1901 due to increased capacity requirements on this line. After the war, the ferry was used for the trajectory between the island of Usedom and the mainland in the port of Wolgast, as there was no longer a rail connection between the island of Usedom and the mainland between the blowing up of the Karnin railroad lift bridge in 1945 and the new track over the Wolgast Peene Bridge until 2000. It was last used in the 1990s to replace the old railcars with new vehicles from the Usedomer Bäderbahn. Visitors can view the engine room, the mess room and the bridge of the ferry moored in the museum harbor.

Rungehaus Museum
● Wolgast
The Rungehaus Museum is the birthplace of the painter and Romantic artist Philipp Otto Runge (1777–1810). Alongside Caspar David Friedrich, he is considered one of the most important painters and printmakers of the German Romantic period. While original works by the artist Philipp August Runge can be found at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, his life story is chronicled at his birthplace in Wolgast. In addition to painting, Runge made a decisive contribution to three-dimensional color theory, designed playing cards, and wrote down the first fairy tales in Germany. The best-known of these—“The Fisherman and His Wife”—was included in the Brothers Grimm’s collection. Route of North German Romanticism: Runge House in Wolgast – Runge’s Birthplace Philipp Otto Runge was born on July 23, 1777. Like Friedrich August von Klinkowström, he had ten siblings. Even in his early childhood, his teacher at the Wolgast school, the poet Ludwig Gotthard Kosegarten, recognized and nurtured his artistic talent. After an apprenticeship in Hamburg, Runge decided in 1799 to study art in Copenhagen. After his return, he met Caspar David Friedrich and also moved to Dresden. Runge nevertheless spent several years in Wolgast, where, among other things, he developed his theory of three-dimensional color theory. One of his most famous works, “Wilhelmine Helwig,” is housed at the Pomeranian State Museum in Greifswald.
Museum harbor Greifswald
● Greifswald
Gaff-rigged ketch and schooner, seaquat and ram ship, cruiser and dinghy - around 45 old ships characterize the image of the museum harbour in Greifswald, which was founded in 1991 following the example of the museum harbours in Flensburg and Hamburg. This was the Hanseatic city's response to the increased interest in historic ships and traditional seamanship. As part of the old city harbour, the museum harbour stretches from the Steinbeck Bridge to the old granary and characterizes the maritime flair of the Hanseatic city. The oldest ship that visitors can admire in the museum harbour is the Zeesboot "Pommerland" from 1880. www.museumshafen-greifswald.de lists all the ships moored here. 15 of them offer excursions and sailing trips. You can also take part in the annual gaff rigging. By the way: The Greifswald Museum Harbour Association also organizes group tours of the museum harbour and the museum shipyard, where old ships are restored, on request.
Museum ship Luise
● Göhren

Until the 1960s, the motorsailer, which was launched in 1906, sailed the waters around Rügen to supply the island's population with all the necessities of life. An exhibition in the hold shows, among other things, the goods transported and the original glow-head engine. The lodge provides an insight into the cramped living conditions of the coastal sailors. On the spacious open-air grounds directly adjacent to Göhren's south beach, there are also numerous navigation signs, fishing boats and cutters as well as exhibitions on fishing, sailmaking and shipbuilding.
Maidens' Fountain
● Stralsund
The "Mägdebrunnen" was recreated in 2003 by the German sculptor Günter Kaden on the site of a historic fountain. Its design details have repeatedly inspired various interpretations. Here, where Schillstraße flows into Fährstraße in the direction of the harbor, a fountain "am Schilde" stood for centuries to supply the surrounding population with water. It was the task of the maidservants to fetch the water from the well and carry it to the patrician houses. The sculptor Günter Kaden took up this theme as part of an urban planning competition, won the competition and designed the fountain from a block of granite with a group of bronze figures in 2003. The bronze figures show three maids fetching water and whispering to each other.
