Bernstein Gallery E

Bernstein Gallery E

Ribnitz-Damgarten

The Amber Gallery E stands for modern amber jewelry, decorations and everyday objects. In May 2002, Uta Erichson opened the Bernstein Galerie E in Ribnitz-Damgarten, which stands for modern design and individual customer service. We present you amber from its most beautiful side. Many artists work with the "gold of the sea" and use it to create unique pieces of jewelry, sculptures and other objects. Through this collaboration with international artists, Uta Erichson continues to create the exclusive variety that makes the gallery so unique. In 2009, she took a big step and acquired the Original Fischlandschmuck brand, bringing the traditional brand back to its place of origin after more than 60 years. Today, this tradition is being continued. Fischlandschmuck is made according to Kramer's old designs in the company's own goldsmith's and amber-cutting workshop. We also design other pieces of gold and silver jewelry according to individual customer wishes, carry out repairs and give old pieces of jewelry a new shine. A visit is worthwhile! We look forward to seeing you. Online store: www.bernsteingalerie-shop.de

Ribnitz Monastery

Ribnitz Monastery

Ribnitz-Damgarten

Lady of the world - but also a nun - permanent exhibition on the history of the monastery and convent in Ribnitz Monastery. In 1323, Prince Henry the Lion founded a monastery for the Order of St. Clare, which particularly venerated its founder and rule-giver, St. Clare of Assisi (1193 - 1253). Richly endowed with land, the monastery quickly developed into an important convent. Today, the monastery complex with its Gothic church is a small treasure trove. A large part of the medieval furnishings have been preserved to this day. The exhibition "Lady of the world, but also a nun" on the history of the convent and monastery leads through the convent church and shows the many treasures of the convent. Visitors can trace the life of the Poor Clares and discover interesting facts about Mecklenburg's regional and aristocratic history. There are only a few places left in Mecklenburg that convey so much historical aura to their visitors. The monastery is also home to the German Amber Museum. The exhibitions are linked and can be experienced together.

St. Mary's Church Ribnitz

St. Mary's Church Ribnitz

Ribnitz-Damgarten

The town church of St. Marien with its massive tower is visible from afar and dominates the townscape. It is a brick building from the 13th century. . It was immediately rebuilt and furnished in the Baroque style (altar and pulpit). At the beginning of the 1980s, the interior of the church underwent further changes: a winter church was installed and the half-timbering in the nave was exposed. The tower (49 meters high, 214 steps) is accessible and the viewing platform offers a beautiful view over the town of Ribnitz and its surroundings. If visibility is good, the towers of Rostock can be seen with the naked eye. Organ concerts and exhibitions are held regularly during the summer months. Construction of the three-aisled hall church began during the city's founding period. Remains of the late Romanesque architectural decoration of the first church are preserved in the form of a round arch frieze on the west side of the nave and in the paired lancet windows. Later conversions and extensions in various architectural styles characterize the image of the church. The great town fire of 1759 destroyed the vaults and medieval interior as well as the tower, which was 100 meters high at the time. Under the direction of the Ludwigslust court architect Johann Joachim Busch, the roof and interior of the church were redesigned in the Baroque style. The central nave was given a wooden semi-circular barrel vault on brick latticework supports, while the side aisles were given flat wooden roofing. The tower lantern was not added until 1841/43 according to designs by Georg Adolph Demmler. After 1980, the interior was remodeled again with the addition of a winter church and parish rooms. In 1994, the organ from the workshop of the Dresden organ builder Jehmlich was inaugurated. Today, in addition to church services and community events, concerts, exhibitions and guided tours take place regularly. The tower (49 meters high, 214 steps) is accessible and the viewing platform offers a beautiful view over the town of Ribnitz and its surroundings. On a clear day, the towers of Rostock can be seen with the naked eye.
