They offer insights into the vibrant culture of the Mecklenburg Lake District. The Palais Café with its large sun terrace and magnificent view over Lake Mirower invites you to linger and enjoy. Pea Arboretum
● Mirow
The forest botanical garden "Erbsland" is located in the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District, 6 kilometers northeast of the small town of Mirow. According to the Schmettauschen map of 1780, the area was once farmland. Peas were probably once grown by the farmers of the village of Qualzow on the pea land, a fertile island of boulder clay measuring around seven hectares in the middle of extensive sandy areas. In 1887, the arboretum was planted with foreign tree species under the direction of the Mirow chief forestry inspector Friedrich Scharenberg (1821-1901) in order to test their suitability for German forestry. With over 30 tree species still present, some of which have impressive growth rates (for example the Douglas fir with a tree height of 42 meters and ten cubic meters of wood volume), the pea land is one of the oldest and dendrologically most interesting forestry cultivation trials in Germany. Pea country is attractive at any time of the year, whether in spring, when the fresh green shows itself, with colorful foliage in autumn or with snow-covered treetops in winter.

St. John's Church in Mirow
● Mirow
The church, which houses the princely crypt, was built in the 14th century. The Church of St. John was dedicated to John the Baptist. Today, the eastern apse and the foundation walls with their Gothic windows are still visible. There are no records of damage sustained during the Thirty Years’ War, but at the end of the war, the church became the property of the principality. On September 4, 1742, the church was completely destroyed by fire after being struck by lightning. The church was rededicated on the first Sunday of Advent. A Baroque altar now serves as the focal point of the princely castle church. For €3.00, you can begin your ascent to lofty heights. The first floor features a small exhibition on the history of the Knights of St. John, which began in 1226. It traces the history of the Mirow Commandery up to the Reformation. It also illustrates how pastoral care was later provided within the Order of St. John and offers a glimpse into the future. If you climb a wooden staircase, you’ll reach a room that hosts small, rotating exhibitions. If you climb another flight of stairs, you’ll reach the belfry. Continue up the stairs, and you’ll arrive beneath the observation deck. There, the association has set up a small exhibition with interesting information on the history of the church and the association’s work. The final steps of the metal spiral staircase lead to the observation deck. From there, you have a sweeping view of the waters surrounding Mirow.
