Permanent exhibition "150 years of model railroads" in Moltzow
A special permanent exhibition in Moltzow, in the middle of the charming lake district of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is dedicated to the history of model railroads. The fascinating development of model railroads from their beginnings to the present day can be followed on 15 dioramas, showcases and model railroad plates.
Gauges and scales - from T gauge to II gaugeThe exhibition shows exhibits in numerous classic gauges: from the tiny T gauge on a scale of 1:480 to the popular Z, N, TT and H0 scales and the larger 0 and II gauges. This allows visitors to experience the entire spectrum of model railroad construction - from early manufacturers such as Bing and Märklin to modern models.
Planned G-gauge garden railroad in MoltzowIn future, the exhibition will be complemented by a G-gauge garden railroad with 45 mm track gauge. This replicates a narrow-gauge railroad with an original gauge of around 1,200 mm and promises to be another highlight for visitors of all ages.
Excursion tip for the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea regionMoltzow is conveniently located for anyone exploring the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - whether as a day trip from Rostock, Stralsund or Greifswald or combined with a vacation on Fischland-Darß-Zingst. A visit to the exhibition is possible after prior registration by telephone or e-mail.

The permanent exhibition "Roof tiles" is located in the botanical garden "Mecklenburg Switzerland". The exhibition features 100 roof tiles from historical buildings from all over Europe. All types of roof tile are on display: Slate, copper, zinc and lead tiles from churches and secular buildings. Highlights include wooden shingles from the Goslar stave church and a gilded roof tile as used on the Schwabach town hall. Modern roof tiles are also on display. Roof tiles in a different use complete the exhibition. These are roof tiles in the form of oil paintings and relief tiles with images of historical personalities. The reliefs were handmade in the 1970s by the Lauterbach roof tile factory in Vogelsberg as wall decorations.
Pet farm Rambow
📍 Moltzow
Zoo with 250 animals in 60 breeds. Mainly old domestic animal breeds threatened with extinction. It began in 1990 with 2 Merino sheep, followed by Heidschnucken, Jacob sheep, Skudden and Ouessant sheep. The petting zoo "Am Storchennest" was founded in 1993. A poultry farm was established in 1995. Inspired by a map from 1648, our facility was renamed again in 2000. The pet farm "Am BarsSee" is located in Rambow Hof on an area of 2 hectares between Waren and Teterow in Mecklenburg Switzerland on a terminal moraine. The zoo is home to around 250 animals of 60 species. The focus is on keeping old breeds of domestic animals threatened with extinction. There are animal species here that are as rare as the Siberian tiger. There are sheep, rabbits, turkeys, geese, ducks, chickens and pigeons. These are old breeds that no longer perform according to current standards and are therefore no longer kept. These breeds represent a rare cultural asset that must be preserved. The range is rounded off with the guinea pigs Cuy (South American giant guinea pigs) and "Swiss Teddy", pheasants, waterfowl, wild fowl and parakeets. The donkeys Emely and Mäxchen are especially happy to welcome children. The zoo is open all year round. It is advisable to book in advance, as the zoo tries to show all visitors around personally. There is a parking lot in front of the property. Access is via the A 19, exit "Waren". From Waren take the B 108 in the direction of Teterow. At the entrance to Moltzow turn right towards Rambow. Before Rambow turn left to Rambow Hof, after 300 m you will find the zoo at the "Alter Gutshaus".
