Pet farm Rambow

Pet farm Rambow
📍

Rambow Hof 2

17194 Moltzow

Zoo with 250 animals in 60 breeds. Mainly old domestic animal breeds threatened with extinction. It began in 1990 with 2 Merino sheep, followed by Heidschnucken, Jacob sheep, Skudden and Ouessant sheep. The petting zoo "Am Storchennest" was founded in 1993. A poultry farm was established in 1995. Inspired by a map from 1648, our facility was renamed again in 2000. The pet farm "Am BarsSee" is located in Rambow Hof on an area of 2 hectares between Waren and Teterow in Mecklenburg Switzerland on a terminal moraine. The zoo is home to around 250 animals of 60 species. The focus is on keeping old breeds of domestic animals threatened with extinction. There are animal species here that are as rare as the Siberian tiger. There are sheep, rabbits, turkeys, geese, ducks, chickens and pigeons. These are old breeds that no longer perform according to current standards and are therefore no longer kept. These breeds represent a rare cultural asset that must be preserved. The range is rounded off with the guinea pigs Cuy (South American giant guinea pigs) and "Swiss Teddy", pheasants, waterfowl, wild fowl and parakeets. The donkeys Emely and Mäxchen are especially happy to welcome children. The zoo is open all year round. It is advisable to book in advance, as the zoo tries to show all visitors around personally. There is a parking lot in front of the property. Access is via the A 19, exit "Waren". From Waren take the B 108 in the direction of Teterow. At the entrance to Moltzow turn right towards Rambow. Before Rambow turn left to Rambow Hof, after 300 m you will find the zoo at the "Alter Gutshaus".

Permanent exhibition "Model railroads from 150 years"

Permanent exhibition "Model railroads from 150 years"

📍 Moltzow

150 years of model railroading - 15 dioramas, display cases and model railroad panels show the development of model railroading from its beginnings to the present day. A model railroad is a scaled-down (scale smaller than one) replica of parts of a "large" railroad. The classic toy trains were already being built on a larger scale at the beginning of the 20th century for the nominal size 1 in 1:32 and 0 in 1:45. Well-known manufacturers included Bing and Märklin. It is typical that the locomotives can drive themselves thanks to a built-in drive. The size ratio between the model and the prototype (for example 1:87) is referred to as the scale, whereby common scales are each assigned a letter/number abbreviation (T, Z, N, TT, H0, 0 etc.; order starting with the largest reduction in size). The most common scales are - T, 3mm M 1:480 - Z, 6mm M 1:220 - N, 9mm M 1:160 - TT, 12mm M1:120 - H0, 16mm M1:87 - 0, 32 mm M1:45 - II, 64mm M1:22.5). The exhibition will feature 15 dioramas, showcases and model railroad plates in these gauges. There are also plans to build a G-gauge garden railroad in 45 mm. This scale reproduces a narrow-gauge railroad with an original gauge of approx. 1200 mm. Please telephone or register by email before visiting.
