Vitter Strand
One of the most romantic places on the island of Rügen is the little village of Vitt.

Vitt has been known for centuries for the “shore sermons” delivered by Pastor Gottfried Ludwig Kosegarten, which he gave to the fishermen on the cliffs of Vitt. In his honor, construction of the Vitt Chapel began in 1806—reportedly based on plans by Karl Friedrich Schinkel—and it can still be visited today and is used for weddings. The Vitter Chapel was built in his honor in 1806—reportedly based on plans by the famous architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The chapel still stands today and is used, among other things, for wedding ceremonies.
