Ecke Malchiner Str./Bahnhofstr.

17166 Teterow

Foundling recovered in the Pampower Feldmark The "Bismarckstein" is located near the center of Teterow, at the intersection of Malchiner Straße and Bahnhofstraße. It was originally found in the Pampow field and is a listed building. The front of the boulder has been polished from the ice, while parts of the back have been blasted off. It is four meters long, 2.80 m wide and has a volume of 9 cubic meters. The "Bismarckstein" - the front view is decorated with a relief of the former Imperial Chancellor - was determined to be coarse-grained granite gneiss. It is not one of the leading rocks and therefore cannot be determined in more detail. However, its size and the traces left by the glacier make this boulder worth seeing.

📍 Teterow

There were fields and gardens on the site of today's Schulkamp until the 19th century. They belonged to the endowment of the Fiedler School Foundation (Felix Fiedler 1661-1705 pastor in Teterow) and were leased to the town. The rent was used to support poor pupils. The school buildings on Schulkamp were built at the end of the 19th century, apart from an extension. Today, the elementary school of the town of Teterow is housed in two buildings. The former "Clock School" is used for artistic purposes and is also known as the "House of Muses". The Teterow branch of the Rostock district music school can be found here. There is also a theater hall and a creative workshop. The "gray" school is a branch of the Teterow City Museum and currently serves as a warehouse. The Pastor-Fiedler-Haus, also located on Schulkamp, was once the town's first kindergarten.

However, Lake Teterow and its island are a paradise for ornithologists. One of the oldest nature reserves in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the "Binsenbrink" nature reserve, is located on the shores of the lake. The nature reserve, which is part of the "Mecklenburg Switzerland" landscape conservation area, is also part of the Mecklenburg Switzerland, Recknitz and Trebel valleys EU bird sanctuary. A total of 125 bird species have been observed so far, 64 of which are breeding birds, including bluethroat, reed warbler and whinchat, crested and lesser scaup, mallard and gadwall, reed warbler, great tit, reed warbler... From the observation tower, you have a wide view over Lake Teterow and the bird species found here.

📍 Teterow

The 1,877 m long course, with gradients of up to 22%, huge "jumps" and difficult bends, demands the utmost courage and skill from the riders. The roar of engines and the smell of methanol, plus the lovely, gently undulating landscape of Mecklenburg Switzerland. In Teterow, these are no contradictions. For almost 90 years now, the race on the Teterow Bergring has become an annual tradition at Whitsun. Once you have fallen under the spell of this unique motorsport facility, you will never let go. Famous racing drivers such as the Australian Roy East and the Englishmen Donald Godden and Simon Wigg have even described it as the best grass track in the world, and they should know. Motorsport fans' eyes light up every year as top-class races are on the program. In addition to the traditional Bergring race at Whitsun, fans can look forward to a series of first-class speedway events in the Bergring Arena right next door. And, of course, fans of the Rust'n'Dust Jalopy - the unique combination of hillclimb and dirt track for American cars built up to 1959 - will also get their money's worth in summer.
