Teterow Fire Department Museum

Teterow Fire Department Museum - Firefighting History in the Old Fire Station The old fire station is located in the historic mill district, right next to the town mill. It dates back to 1896 and served as the home of the Teterow Volunteer Fire Department—founded in 1868—for more than seven decades. After a severe fall storm in 1964, the hose tower began to lean dangerously, so it was demolished to ensure safety. As a result, the building lost an important functional element. As the fire department’s range of duties expanded, the old fire station proved unsuitable. The firefighters had reason to celebrate on the 100th anniversary in 1968. The new fire station was handed over, and the town took over use of the old one from then on. As part of the restoration of the Mühlenviertel district, the municipality began restoring the firehouse and reconstructing the hose tower in February 1997. As early as August 14, the completed building was handed over to the firefighters. They immediately began setting up a small but impressive exhibition on the history of the fire department. In 1999, the reconstruction of the annex was also completed. An attractively designed fire department museum was created over a large area. There’s plenty to see here—ranging from information on the development of the fire department in Teterow to old firefighting equipment and fire trucks. It’s well worth a visit. Opening hours: by appointment only at 0174 1650046, and from early June through early September on Saturdays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Gallery—Art Appreciation in the Countryside. The Teterow Gallery has been in existence since 1990 and has since become a gathering place for art lovers in the region. The gallery at the Teterow train station is in a class of its own. Since the summer of 2013, it has been the town’s flagship attraction in the historic train station building, literally welcoming visitors arriving by train to the town in an artistic manner. The vast station concourse offers ample space for art and art objects of various genres, as well as jewelry, textiles, and ceramics. The event calendar is correspondingly packed. The art association organizes a new art exhibition about four times a year, as well as ladies’ nights, readings, and, last but not least, the Central Mecklenburg Pottery Market in Teterow on the first weekend in August.

Multi-generational playground & meeting center Regenbogenhaus

The building was built to be multifunctional and consists mainly of a large event room with an adjoining, fully equipped kitchen and a bar area, as well as a checkroom and toilets (one of which is accessible for the disabled). The function room can be divided into two rooms of almost equal size as required and is therefore also suitable for smaller and larger events, as well as family and company celebrations. Traditional excursion restaurant on the outskirts of Teterow In a clearing between old trees in the middle of the "Hohes Holz" hiking area in Teterow stands the forest restaurant with the same name. A pub was already operating here around 1900. Today, the popular excursion restaurant still invites hikers and guests to linger. The menu includes home-style cooking as well as various fish and meat dishes. The Hohe Holz has a magnificent beech tree population. The seed of the trees has the "special origin" quality seal. The stone cist grave in the Hohe Holz - an archaeological monument - dates back to between 3,000 and 1,800 BC. The Hohe Holz is one of Teterow's three urban hiking areas and invites you to take a walk through the forest to the legendary Hertha Lake.
