Satow church

The church in Satow was rebuilt after the old church fell into disrepair.

After the old church had fallen into disrepair, the first stones were brought to the building site for a new church in January 1864. The new church was built on the highest point near the vicarage.

The Satow church - a new building from 1864

The Satow church is one of the characteristic village churches in the hinterland of the Mecklenburg Baltic coast. After the original church in Satow fell into disrepair, the construction of a new place of worship began in January 1864. The first stones were brought to the building site at the beginning of the year and the new church building was erected on the highest point of the village, in the immediate vicinity of the vicarage. This elevated position still gives the church a highly visible, dignified presence in the townscape to this day.

Satow - excursion destination between Rostock and Wismar

Satow is located in the charming hilly landscape of Mecklenburg, not far from the Baltic Sea coast and the well-known tourist destinations of Rostock and Wismar. Anyone exploring the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region away from the large coastal towns will find Satow and its church to be a quiet, authentic testimony to rural building culture. The church blends harmoniously into the typical North German landscape and invites you to enjoy a peaceful visit.
