Langsdorf quarry pond is a small recreational gem in the hinterland of the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast, not far from the Fischland-Darß-Zingst coastal region. Created by gravel mining around Langsdorf, a well-kept bathing area has developed at the former quarry pond, which is a particularly worthwhile destination for families with children.

The facility directly at the Buchholz service area offers a clean sandy beach with an adjacent lawn, seating and a volleyball court. A snack van from the neighboring service area provides drinks and snacks. An entrance fee of one euro is charged for the maintenance of the facility - a fair price for the ambience on offer.

History: from peat extraction to gravel mining

The landscape around Langsdorf has changed over the centuries. Peat was once extracted here and transported to Bad Sülze along the Prahm Canal. Today, gravel extraction characterizes the area and the resulting lakes are increasingly being developed for tourism - the quarry pond is a successful example of this.

Langsdorf is only around two kilometers away by car via the Tribsees freeway slip road, and the Bad Sülze slip road is also around four kilometers away. Those arriving by train are best advised to use Tessin train station, which is around 18 kilometers away.
