Hüningsbusch - Megalithic Tomb near Seelvitz

The "Hüningsbusch" megalithic tomb is located in the southeastern part of the island of Rügel, along with numerous other megalithic tombs. The “Hüningsbusch,” a megalithic tomb near Seelvitz, belongs to the Funnel Beaker Culture type of large dolmen with a vestibule. The tomb is surrounded by other megalithic tombs, all of which are located in a region rich in megalithic tombs in the southeastern part of the island of Rügen. One of the damaged capstones, as well as a wall stone, revealed several small bowls on the surface. The 1970 excavation conducted by Adolf Hollnagel revealed that the burial chamber of the east-west-oriented, trapezoidal megalithic tomb had been severely disturbed. Several finds, such as amber beads, axes, cross-cutters, and other flint tools, as well as pottery shards, bones, and a hand millstone, were uncovered from the burial chamber. Zirkow Museum Courtyard

Zirkow’s Museum Courtyard displays agricultural artifacts, old photographs and documents, as well as original household items from various eras in Rügen’s history. Creative workshops featuring traditional craft techniques are also offered regularly for children. The main building of the historic museum courtyard is a “Kübbungs-Dielenhaus,” built in 1727 and typical of the architecture on the island of Rügen during the pre-industrial era. The LPG Zirkow used this building as a cattle barn starting in 1958. Furthermore, the historic museum farm in Zirkow has two outbuildings. These house a variety of domestic and agricultural items that were in use on the island of Rügen over the centuries. Visitors can expect to see original home furnishings and household items, as well as historical documents and pictures. In addition, various agricultural machines and tools are on display. Visitors to the historic museum farmstead in Zirkow can thus gain a comprehensive understanding of what rural village life on the island of Rügen was like over the centuries.
Teufelsstein - Megalithic Tomb near Seelvitz

The "Teufelsstein" megalithic tomb is located not far from the "Hüningsbusch" megalithic tomb near Seelvitz. Near the “Hüningsbusch” megalithic tomb lies the “Teufelsstein” megalithic tomb. The tomb, which has a severely disturbed burial chamber, belongs to the group of large dolmens with a vestibule typical of Rügen. On the clay soil—which in turn lay on a bed of pigeon-egg-sized flint pebbles—sections composed of individual stone slabs set vertically were identified. Only a few Neolithic finds, such as two hand millstones, some pottery, and an amber bead, were recovered from the burial chamber. A sandstone grinding slab was used as a threshold stone. Another distinctive feature is the three small bowls attached to the surface of the keystone.
