Viewpoint The Bakelberg is surrounded by meadows and fields between the steep bank and the district of Niehagen. At a height of 17.9 m, it is the highest point on Fischland and offers a fantastic panoramic view of the Baltic Sea and Bodden. From 2017 to the end of 2020, the Ahrenshoop waymarker "Schreitender Paul Müller-Kaempff" by artist Moritz Götze was enthroned on the Bakelberg to mark the 125th anniversary of the Ahrenshoop artists' colony. A smaller version of the figure now commemorates the founder of the Ahrenshoop artists' colony on the meadow in front of the old school.

In recent years, the cycle paths have been extended to such an extent that a complete network of cycle paths has now been created in the region around the Saaler Bodden. The lighthouse in the Darß Forest near Prerow has been a popular excursion destination for years. On the way there, you can enjoy the unspoilt western beach with its unique windswept coves. At the lighthouse, also known as Darßer Ort, a museum awaits you, a branch of the Stralsund Oceanographic Museum, where you can learn about the geological history of the peninsula and the animal species found there. You can recharge your batteries for the way back in the local restaurant. If the weather is good, you can see Denmark and the island of Hiddensee from the lighthouse. The number of cyclists is growing from year to year. It is now possible to take bicycles on buses, which have specially designed trailers, as well as on passenger ships.
