Grace.bar
● Güstrow
Anmut.bar - an enjoyable place to pause for a moment near the cathedral in a historic Art Nouveau building. Just as the building was part of a graceful social design, the Anmut.bar follows the claim of being a place for profound, artistic and creative expression. Anmut.bar and a bite of happiness. If you think of cocktails and espresso when you hear the name Anmut.Bar, you're not wrong, but you haven't yet grasped its full splendor. The Anmut.bar is more. It's a fantastic place to have breakfast or an aperitivo with friends while enjoying a tarte flambée or a delicious home-style pizza. Twice a week there is the living room cinema, where special films are shown in a charming atmosphere. Whether it's the monthly living room theater or a living room concert, private lessons in Tango Argentino or a book from the bookshelf, every guest will find something to suit them. But above all, the Anmut.bar is a beautiful Art Nouveau villa where you can relax with a cup of cappuccino and a home-baked slice of cake, for example. That's all you really need to be happy.

Historic hydroelectric power station
● Güstrow
-temporarily closed- The historic hydropower plant of Stadtwerke Güstrow still generates green electricity from hydropower, which is fed into the Güstrow power grid. If you are interested, Stadtwerke Güstrow offers a guided tour by prior arrangement. As the population of Güstrow grew in the 19th century, the demand for high-quality drinking water increased. The watercourse of the Nebel at the Mühlentor mill was an ideal location for a waterworks. The need for a reliable power supply also developed in Güstrow. There were often bottlenecks in the supply from the Rostock-Bramow coal-fired power station. The power of the water at the Mühlentor mill was therefore to be used to supply the town. From 1923, the Francis turbine was only used to generate electricity. The turbine was coupled with a direct current generator, which initially only supplied electricity for the pumps of the "Am Berge" waterworks. In 1926/27, the new "Am Berge" hydroelectric power station was built in the area of the Mühlentor mill. The Kaplan turbine was also installed. The Kaplan turbine in the right-hand canal drove a generator to produce electricity, while the Francis turbine in the left-hand canal drove the pumps for the elevated tank in Baustraße. From 1999 to 2000, the "Am Berge" hydroelectric power station was restored by the Güstrow public utility company. The first test run of the turbines was then started as part of EXPO 2000, at which Güstrow was an external location. The electricity generated here is fed into the Güstrow power grid . ROESNEREI - Stories made of paper
● Güstrow
ROESNEREI presents stories made of paper in its store studio! In my store studio in Güstrow, the ROESNEREI, stories are created from paper - or to be more precise, from the most diverse papers you can imagine: Old and new, used and unused, precious and banal, strange and everyday. In the papier-mâché technique, these materials are transformed into figures and episodes that I encounter in life or that occupy me. Sometimes this leads to bizarre stories in the course of which special personalities, such as stag ladies and gentlemen, are born - but spring ladies, table parties, boat trips or even lucky swings can also be found in the ROESNEREI. In addition, a selection from the collage series "Signs from Paradise" - small works of art that tell stories from paradise ... And not forgetting wonderful necklaces with medallions (also made of paper, of course) from the "GLÜCKSSTÜCKE" series - each bead is individually hand-formed ... Paper is my passion and I love working with this wonderful material more than anything. Opening hours: Jan.-Dec.: Wed-Fri 13-17, Sat 11-14
Renaissance Room Mühlenstraße 17
● Güstrow
The approx. 40 m² room in the oldest residential building of the Güstrow housing association is named after a painted wooden beam ceiling, which was found during modernization work in 2004. The special value of the painted wooden beam ceiling for North German Renaissance art is based on the surviving extent of 19 portrait medallions in contemporary dress and striking attention to detail. There is hardly anything comparable in the secular architecture of northern Germany at the same time. The opening of the Renaissance Room at Mühlenstraße 17 has enriched cultural life in Güstrow since 2006. Concerts, readings and comedy performances take place here five to six times a year. The room has space for 40 people - and that is exactly what makes the atmosphere so special. Artists and guests are very close together here. Visits are possible to a limited extent during the opening hours of the Güstrow consumer advice center.
