Maxluzi Schauwerkstatt Wesenberg - craftsmanship from regional wood

The Maxluzi show workshop in Wesenberg gives visitors a fascinating insight into the world of sustainable wood craftsmanship. In the heart of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, unique products are created here from regional wood: wafer-thin turned lampshades, furniture, accessories and even tiny houses. The interplay of traditional craftsmanship and modern design makes the show workshop a special place to visit in the region.

Thin wooden lamps and sustainable handcrafted products

The heart of the manufactory are the delicate wooden lampshades, which create a warm, characteristic light thanks to their material thickness. Anyone who values sustainable and handmade unique pieces will find an inspiring selection in the workshop. The products combine precision craftsmanship with a clear sense of aesthetics - something that is particularly suitable as a souvenir from the Mecklenburg Lake District.

Wesenberg as a starting point for the Mecklenburg Lake District

Wesenberg is located in the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District and is an ideal starting point for excursions into the surrounding nature. Anyone traveling inland from the Baltic Sea coast - for example from Rostock, Stralsund or Fischland-Darß-Zingst - can easily plan the Maxluzi Schauwerkstatt as a cultural stopover. The region offers an impressive combination of nature, history and artisanal creativity.

As a result of the Thirty Years' War, today you can only explore the preserved torso of the keep, also known as the Fangelturm, and parts of the castle wall. The Fangelturm now serves as an observation tower. The castle premises are now used as a local history room with an exhibition on fishing and regional history, as a forestry museum and tourist information center. As every year, the traditional castle festival takes place on the 1st weekend in July with a historical parade, knightly spectacles, dancing and fireworks.
