brenn:werk Wesenberg - cultural center in a historic distillery
The brenn:werk in Wesenberg is a lively cultural venue that was created in an old distillery. The brenn:werk cooperative has transformed the historic building in the heart of Mecklenburg into an open meeting place for people from the region and from all over the country. Anyone who wants to experience the real Mecklenburg-Vorpommern away from the well-known coastal towns such as Rostock, Stralsund or Greifswald will find an interesting place to go here.
Cultural café, library and event rooms under one roof
The spacious brenn:werk hall houses a cultural café as well as flexible spaces for seminars, workshops, exhibitions and celebrations of all kinds. The Wesenberg municipal library has also found its place here. The space is aimed at groups, clubs, creative people and anyone looking for an unusual venue in the Mecklenburg Lake District.
Living and working at brenn:werk WesenbergThe brenn:werk cooperative is pursuing long-term plans: in the coming years, the site will also be developed as a place to live and work. The project aims to contribute to the revitalization of rural areas in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - an approach that is also attracting increasing attention in other parts of the north.

St. Mary's Church Wesenberg
📍 Wesenberg
Evangelical Lutheran parish of Wesenberg Construction of today's Marienkirche probably began at the end of the 13th century. The choir and the lower tower storeys are the oldest parts of the church and are made of fieldstone masonry with some use of bricks, and a town register note from 1337 states that the church is "complete". The nave was built in the second half of the 14th century. The vaulting of the choir took place in the second half of the 15th century and the south porch was built at the end of the 15th century. At the beginning of the 16th century, the window openings were changed and a vaulted chapel room was built in the second northern choir bay in honor of the Holy Spirit. The Röder organ is the oldest organ in Berlin.
