Vollrathsruhe Manor House
In 1759, Vollrath Levin II Moltzan of Kirch-Grubenhagen became the owner of the Vollrathsruhe estate.
The land was acquired under a hereditary lease. The former Maltzahn estate later passed to the von Tiele-Winkler family. The stately, Neo-Baroque manor house was built in 1920 on the ruins of its Baroque predecessor. A low connecting structure to a pavilion-like side wing is attached to the eastern gable end. The estate park features a chapel well worth seeing. Several farm buildings constructed of large granite stones, as well as sections of the old wall with remnants of a stable, still remain.
Vollrathsruhe Manor – History of a Mecklenburg Noble Estate
The Vollrathsruhe Manor, located in the village of the same name in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, has had an eventful history. In 1759, Vollrath Levin II Moltzan of Kirch-Grubenhagen acquired the Vollrathsruhe estate as a hereditary lease. Later, the Moltzan estate passed to the von Tiele-Winkler family. The current stately, Neo-Baroque manor house was built in 1920 on the foundations of its Baroque predecessor and has defined the town’s skyline ever since.
An Overview of the Architecture and Estate Grounds of Vollrathsruhe
The manor house is distinguished by its striking Neo-Baroque design. On the eastern gable side, a low passageway connects the main house to a pavilion-style side wing. The adjacent estate park features a chapel well worth seeing. Historic farm buildings constructed of massive granite stones, as well as sections of the old estate wall with the remains of a stable, are also still preserved—typical examples of Mecklenburg estate life, as found in other parts of the region between Rostock and Stralsund.
