Manor house Sommersdorf

The manor house in Sommersdorf, formerly Alt-Sommersdorf, is located in the middle of the charming forest, meadow and lake landscape around Lake Kummerow.

The Sommersdorf estate was owned by the von Maltzahn family, who had their headquarters on the neighboring Kummerow estate. The Rewoldt family is named as the last owner. After the previous building burned down in 1924, the building was rebuilt in a modified form. During the National Socialist era, the manor house was used as a "farm school for the training of young farmers' wives". After 1945, refugees initially moved into the manor house and it was later used for residential purposes. In 2005, construction work was carried out on the exterior façade and roof of the manor house. Today there are apartments in the house. A farm building is the headquarters of the Sommersdorf volunteer fire department.

Gutshaus Sommersdorf in the middle of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern lake district

The Sommersdorf manor house, formerly known as Alt-Sommersdorf, is nestled in an expansive landscape of forests, meadows and lakes around Lake Kummerow. This charming region in the heart of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern combines natural beauty with historical depth - not unlike the famous manor houses along the Baltic Sea coast between Rostock and Greifswald.

From aristocratic manor house to residential complex - the history of the Sommersdorf manor house

The Sommersdorf estate belonged to the von Maltzahn family, who had their headquarters on the neighboring Kummerow estate. The Rewoldt family is named as the last owner. After a previous building burned down in 1924, the building was rebuilt in a modified form. During the National Socialist era, it served as a farm school for the training of young female farmers. After 1945, refugees initially found accommodation in the manor house, later it continued to be used for residential purposes. In 2005, extensive renovation work was carried out on the exterior façade and roof. Today, there are apartments in the building, while a former farm building on the site is used as a location for the Sommersdorf volunteer fire department.
