For fishing enthusiasts: fish filleting area with large smoking oven where you can prepare your freshly caught fish. 400 square meters. Also ideal for a vacation with your dog. The perfect thing about Neukalen on Lake Kummerow is that you have virtually everything here at the same time. Through the foothills of Mecklenburg Switzerland with its gentle hills, the forest, the river and lake landscape and the nature reserve, you can experience a variety of nature on foot or by bike that is second to none. The direct connection to the Peene, the inner city harbor with barrier-free access to Lake Kummerow or the connecting lakes is ideal for boat and canoe trips and water hikers. Bicycles and boats can be hired directly in the town. The Peene, one of the most species-rich rivers in Germany, is an Eldorado for anglers and the natural bathing spots with a sandy beach (in the village or slightly larger in Salem) are sure to please your children. We also recommend the trolley ride from Dargun to Salem, which also goes via Neukalen. There is a surfing and sailing school with a beautiful surfing area in Sommersdorf and horse riding is also available in the neighboring villages on Lake Kummerow.

It's worth stopping off here, as the museum houses an exhibition showing the development of railroad workers' workwear over several centuries. You can enjoy coffee, cake and a tasty snack in the café in historic railroad carriages. The oldest uniform dates back to 1880 and the museum also displays various shoulder pieces from the years 1872 to 1918. Right next door in the goods station, five historic wagons can be admired. One of them houses a café.
