Art collection, wine cellar and literary modernism on Hiddensee

In addition to the historical rooms, part of Hauptmann's art collection and the original wine cellar are also on display. The cultural history exhibition "Literary Modernism on Hiddensee" sheds light on the importance of the island for literary life in the early 20th century - far beyond Hiddensee to the major cultural centers of the Baltic Sea region such as Stralsund, Greifswald and Rostock.

Literature pavilion, readings and concerts

The associated literature pavilion houses a well-stocked bookshop, which also stocks Hauptmann's favorite wine. Regular readings and concerts make the house a lively cultural venue. Children between the ages of 5 and 13 are offered their own guided tours, which focus on storytelling and painting.
