Genusswerkstatt Binz: Nordic seasonal cuisine at the Rugard Thermal Strandhotel
The Genusswerkstatt Binz on the fifth floor of the Rugard Thermal Strandhotel is one of the most remarkable gourmet addresses on the island of Rügen. Head chef Robert Schindler combines craftsmanship with a clear philosophy: to bring fresh, regional products from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to the plate authentically and with the courage to be independent. His credo "My hand for my product" is reflected in every course.
Two menus, panoramic views of the cliffs and Baltic coast
Guests can choose between two menus - "Butt" and "Veeh" - each with three, four or five courses. The menus combine newly interpreted home cooking with an elegant ambience and a breathtaking view of the chalk coast of Rügen. A suitable wine accompaniment rounds off the taste experience. Menu prices start from 56 euros. The combination of culinary quality and a unique natural panorama attracts gourmets from all over the Baltic Sea region to Binz.
Focus on regional products from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Robert Schindler's cuisine is consistently based on a Nordic, seasonal approach. Ingredients from the region - as can be found in the coastal towns between Stralsund, Greifswald and Fischland-Darß-Zingst - are processed with unadulterated precision and craftsmanship. The result is an aromatic taste experience that brings the diversity of the Baltic Sea region to life in a special way.

The Granitzhaus
● Binz
The former forestry and inn of the Princes of Putbus has been home to an information center about the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Southeast Rügen since 2004. The Granitzhaus on the island of Rügen is a former forester's lodge and inn dating from 1901, which now houses the information center for the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve. It stands directly opposite the Granitz hunting lodge near Binz. In 1726, the then Prince of Putbus Moritz Ulrich I had a hunting lodge built on the open space in front of today's Granitzhaus. This consisted of a main house and two side pavilions. Four consecrated stag heads on the front of the main house indicated the purpose of the building: hunting. The princely hunting party stayed in the main house during the hunting season. The current exhibition in the Granitzhaus is designed to be interactive, arouse curiosity and stimulate reflection. Among other things, visitors can look forward to a "treasure chamber" with very special treasures from the region. There is also an animation on the post-glacial development of the region on a 3D model, which also vividly illustrates the settlement history of south-east Rügen and the development of the Baltic Sea. Entry to the exhibition is free of charge.
Museum Ostseebad Binz
● Binz
A brief insight into the eventful history of the Baltic seaside resort of Binz on Rügen. In the exhibition of the Binz Museum Association in the Kleinbahnhof, visitors can expect a journey into the eventful history of the Baltic seaside resort. Among other things, you can see differently furnished rooms with various original exhibits, swimwear and historical photos as well as a model of the first Binz spa house from around 1900. The extensive collection of historical postcards is both amusing and illustrative. The museum will be supplemented in future by special themed exhibitions
