Beseritz Manor House
The central projection with the coat of arms on the high gable is particularly striking.
To the right, you can see the tower with its pointed, tile-covered spire. Johann August Schlettwein (a well-known jurist and economist) inherited the estate through his wife in 1784. In 1808, the Schlettwein family’s daughter, along with her husband Robertus, owned the estate. The estate remained in the family. Beginning in 1880, following a fire, Christian Graf von Bernstorff had the manor house rebuilt according to plans by Georg Daniel. After 1945, the manor house served as a residence. Today, it is used as a restaurant and for other cultural purposes.
Beseritz Manor House – History of a Mecklenburg Manor House
The Beseritz Manor House is one of the most remarkable manor houses in the interior of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, not far from the Baltic Sea coast. Particularly eye-catching are the striking central risalit with the coat of arms on the high gable, as well as the characteristic tower with its pointed, tile-covered spire—both defining features of the region’s manor house architecture.
From Johann August Schlettwein to Count von Bernstorff—the Owners of the Beseritz Estate
The estate’s history is marked by a series of ownership changes: The well-known jurist and economist Johann August Schlettwein inherited the property in 1784 through his wife. In 1808, it passed to the Robertus family, descendants of the Schlettweins, and remained in the family for generations. After a fire, Christian Graf von Bernstorff had the manor house rebuilt starting in 1880 according to plans by architect Georg Daniel.
The Beseritz Manor House Today—A Restaurant and Cultural Venue in the Mecklenburg Lake District
After 1945, the manor house initially served as a residence. Today, it is used as a restaurant and for cultural purposes, making it a vibrant part of the historical heritage of the region between Neubrandenburg and the Baltic Sea coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
