The historic town hall with the town history museum The current town hall building on Neuer Markt was built in 1797 and rebuilt in the middle of the 19th century. Today it appears as a three-storey building in the Tudor Gothic style. After its reconstruction in 1988, the town hall was given a coat of colored plaster and Schinkel lamps. Under its arcades, the building houses the old council scales with meter-long weighing beams, the suspension of which still stretches out into the open. On the south side of the New Town Hall, you can still see a bullet hole from the time of the Kapp Putsch in 1920. The city guides will be happy to tell you the story of this event during a historical city tour. Today, the town hall building houses the registry office of the town of Waren (Müritz). On the upper floors, the Town History Museum presents a permanent exhibition on the history of Waren and the way of life of its inhabitants. Special themed exhibitions are also on display.

This is extracted from an underground "sea" at a depth of 1550 meters in the geothermal plant on the Papenberg. Balneological reports by the Fresenius Institute have confirmed that Waren's thermal brine meets the criteria for natural healing water and is therefore entitled to bear the designation "iodine-containing thermal brine". There are particularly promising treatment options for skin diseases, respiratory diseases and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The iodine-containing thermal brine is the basis for the "Waren bath salt". This makes it possible to use it at home.
