Zinnowitz Baltic Sea Stage Vineta Festival
Since 1997, the legend of the fantastical, unspeakably rich city of Vineta has captivated audiences.
It is said to have once been located off the coast of Usedom, but the greed of its inhabitants led to its downfall in the waters of the Baltic Sea. Only on the open-air stage in Zinnowitz can it still be seen, for there, year after year, it rises again for a few weeks in a fantastic theatrical show. Then, with song and dance, earth-born and sea-born beings, witches, fairy-tale characters, gods, and elf warriors, dune knights, revenants, and many other fantastical figures take to the stage in a bitter battle for love, justice, and Vineta. A new story is told every year. Just as fascinating as the stories told about Vineta is a very special feature of the festival. Season: June through August
Zinnowitz Baltic Sea Stage: The Vineta Festival on Usedom
Since 1997, the Ostseebühne Zinnowitz on the island of Usedom has been bringing one of the most fascinating legends of the Baltic Sea coast to life: the story of the sunken city of Vineta. According to legend, the fabulously wealthy city once lay off the coast of Usedom until the greed of its inhabitants drove it into the waters of the Baltic Sea. Year after year, it rises again on the open-air stage in Zinnowitz—in an elaborate theatrical production featuring song, dance, and fantastic costumes.
New stories about Vineta—season runs from June through August
Every year, a new story is told at the Vineta Festival. Earthborns, Foamborns, witches, gods, elf warriors, dune knights, and many other fantastical characters battle anew in each play for love, justice, and the fate of Vineta. The season runs from June through August, making the Ostseebühne Zinnowitz a staple cultural highlight of the summer on the Baltic Sea coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania—not far from Greifswald and the Fischland-Darß-Zingst Peninsula.
Open-air theater in the heart of Usedom’s natural landscape
The combination of the open sky, Baltic Sea air, and impressive stage productions gives the Vineta Festival a very special atmosphere. The open-air stage in Zinnowitz thus offers a cultural experience that goes far beyond classical theater and delights visitors of all ages.

Zinnowitz pier with diving gondola
● Zinnowitz
The diving gondola at the head of the 315-meter-long pier offers you the opportunity to take a dry-footed dive into the Baltic Sea and get to know the habitat beneath the waves. As early as 1897, a jetty was built in Zinnowitz to transport tourists by boat as part of the developing resort traffic. The pier was built in 1908. After the Second World War, it was demolished due to weathering damage. In autumn 1993, the current pier, which measures 315 meters, was inaugurated. It bears the name Vineta. At the end of the pier is the diving gondola, which invites you to take a special kind of underwater walk. During the 30-minute journey to the seabed, visitors gain an interesting insight into the Baltic Sea habitat. The staff provide information about the Baltic Sea, its inhabitants and their need for protection and explain the creatures that can be observed depending on visibility and the time of year, e.g. tiny green algae, jellyfish, shrimps and sometimes fish.
