The Zarrentin lido is located on the southern shore of Lake Schaalsee - at 72 meters deep, it is the deepest lake in northern Germany. If you are traveling along the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and are looking for a quiet day of swimming away from the busy beaches of Rügen or Usedom, you will find a well-kept facility with crystal-clear water in the middle of the Schaalsee biosphere reserve.

Facilities and special features of the lido

The bathing area boasts a spacious sunbathing lawn, a water slide, a snack bar and a nostalgic bathing hut that emphasizes the rural charm of the place. A somewhat secluded but easily visible playground makes the facility particularly attractive for families with children. In bathing weather, the beach is supervised in the afternoon. Entry is free of charge.

Nature conservation at Lake Schaalsee - swimming only in designated areas

For decades, Lake Schaalsee and its shores were strictly protected as a restricted area along the inner-German border. This unusual history has contributed to the preservation of rare animal and plant species on the lake. To protect this natural heritage, swimming is only permitted at designated bathing areas such as the Zarrentin lido.
